Unless such a period of no arrivals is instituted in the next 3 hours or so, only domestic flights are impacted. MCO does not have 24 hours immigration and border control services for some reason...

Will try to keep this post non-political, but I think we can all agree that Air Traffic Controllers should be paid for doing their work and I hope the shutdown ends soon.

Some things like Air Traffic, military, SSA etc should be funded no matter what.

SS still gets paid out. Agree there should be completely separate spending bills for essential operations and discretionary spending.

As a Canadian it’s certainly odd to witness.
Our budget has only just been tabled, not voted on yet…but if even the budget failed to pass, which would potentially trigger an election… the government is still funded, people are still paid.
It’s sort of a bizarre system in America, having things just shut down like this…

It's the result of too many sticky fingers in the pie for too long, everyone we elect is expected to grab as much as they can for their electorate from the central pool. They also determine who's money fills the pool so making it larger or sucking it out from different hoses is totally in their control. We have the ones who have to live by the rules writing what the rules say.
