Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Now Open!

Andrew C

You know what's funny?
It's just one quarter of all their parks. Not too bad. Especially since we've seen attendance at USO&IOA go down .

Comcast as a whole saw decreasing profits .

They did a stock buyback to choose their stocks .
Are you suggesting that Comcast since spin off their parks into a separate entity?!?

Well, no, I'd be satisfied if they did what I suggested.
If you asked a question, they’d probably answer as best as they could.

But if you’re expecting a frontline, entry-level employee in any service industry to offer real depth or nuance in that answer - your expectations are a lot higher than reality can deliver.

I mean, they're there to answer questions as well.

Some people will never be satisfied.
I wonder how many people are participating in games that most play tailgating or summer parties… I would venture not many people would waste their time in a theme park paying premium dollars to do so….I would rather have them keep it more in theme as a reason they can not see the experiment demonstration… I remember once at DAK Everest was closed and cast members use the simple explanation that the Yeti escaped… I would rather than then untamed party games

Then express that when you get surveys from the parks. Leadership at the parks don't go in blind making these decisions.

Sadly? Thats a good thing.
Yes, by all means. Shoo away the people who spend more on merch and food, visit more often (while actually being cheaper to host thanks to their shorter visit lengths), and keep the park’s cash flow steady during slow periods.

Your hatred of annual passholders doesn’t line up with business reality. So go ahead, show me on the doll where the passholders hurt you:

Normally I would agree, but Epic clearly can not handle the added influx of locals coming just to hang out yet. It currently cannot handle the crowds from just single day tickets without a large percentage of those visitors having an awful day in 2-3 hour lines. I'm assuming that's why the other poster said that its a good thing that Epic does not have AP yet.

I'm fully aware that they're there to answer questions.

The part I take issue with is placing Walmart lawn games in front of a big, beautiful, expensive E-ticket. I get what whoever decided to do this was going for - "give them something to do instead of nothing", but the result is it is worse optics than just not doing that.

These forums are going to get very quiet if the only way people can express opinions on the parks is when Disney or Universal hands them a survey to fill out.
It's not the only way, but that gets those answers in front of the people who can take action far more quickly than a message board.

If that were the argument, I'd agree completely

But Donnie has an issue with annual passholders, viewing them as "freeloaders" and making very negative and false generalizations about the passholder community as a whole.

We're only discussing the most recent quarter, not the full year.

As far as capacity, there are no restrictions on gate capacity at this time (and there haven't been in quite a while)
Not according to Comcast - they specifically state they aren't allowing capacity at this time:

“In terms of Epic itself, our focus now is just driving increased ride capacity. It's a new park and very technologically advanced, so working on the labour and the kinks to drive it to full capacity.

We've been holding back a little bit to make sure the experience is what we want it to be. We expect it to fully scale up in the months ahead, and we'll really be driving higher attendance, per caps, and improved operating leverage.”

They can certainly say whatever they'd like (and I would draw your attention to "ride capacity" as the topic of the quote), but the fact is that they are not hitting capacity limits. Tickets remain available, which means that they aren't "holding back" anything in terms of gate capacity.

Perhaps they're discussing "holding back" capacity in terms of not offering an Annual Pass, but that interpretation would require reading past the words that were actually said

I believe that they are holding back in terms of ride capacity. Say, running 10 cars instead of 15 because they are concerned that the ride may break when a 12th car enters the track.

What exactly do you think they meant by "holding back a little bit" - that they are deliberately not running the rides at full capacity. No, they are limiting park capacity. They even added "to make the experience is what they want it to be" Thats specifically attendance. Saying "we're not running the rides at full capacity to make the experience what they want it to be" would equate to "We're deliberately making long lines because thats what people want"
