Len Testa - “Disney positions itself as the all-American vacation. The irony is that most Americans can’t afford it.”

Disney's sure on a price-increase bender....Don't think they're shaking in their boots!

Just stating a pricing fact, I will be heading to a Dominican all inclusive the last week of October.

I priced out the same number of days at Pop, park tickets, and DDP.

WDW was 2x the price than the all inclusive and WDW price did not include flights.
People laughed me off when I suggested this was a risky trip due to it being peak hurricane season, and yet here we are, the last week of October and a Category 4 storm is going to be in the Caribbean. While DR isn’t getting a direct hit, torrential rain and the possibility of mudslides are in store for the island this week (Jamaica is going to fair far worse.) Hope you consider canceling your trip.

I'll let you all know. Flight leaves at 0648 tomorrow morning. Rainy days in Punta Cana are much better than a week at work.

I've been to WDW and on cruises during hurricane season. The three times I've had disrupted cruise due to a hurricane was twice in October and once in August. If we had not flown in two days early last August we would have missed the cruise. Many people did miss the cruise. There are financial risks associated with vacationing during hurricane season that's why prices are lower.

I wouldn't fly to the Caribbean right now. Not because I'm afraid of a hurricane, but because I have a job and can't afford to get stuck there. I got delayed in July two days coming back from MCO due to the weather in Texas. I had to miss a day of work. If I was retired I wouldn't worry about weather.

It doesn't look like PUJ is even in the path of the hurricane. It's kind of irrelevant. Jamaica will probably get hit pretty hard.

The peak season is Aug-Oct, it is not 1 day. I’m currently in the swamp so keeping an eye on the tropics concerns me personally (thank you cold front for protecting me) and I don’t see avoiding a storm capable of killing, or knocking out services for days as something that is an obsession. At least Nubs is going to Punta Cana which will be the least affected on the island. Personally I wouldnt risk it because at best there will be scenes of death and destruction from further inland not to mention a huge surge in migrants from those further inland seeking shelter around you. Worse case scenario, power and water are knocked out for weeks and the airport remains closed as well.

Melissa is a huge storm. There will be impacts hundreds of miles away from the center.

Yeah I'm sure they'll get some outer bands, but not a direct hit like Jamaica. Are flights going to cancel in PUJ? Maybe or maybe not. Generally all it takes is a little lightening to ground everything. If I had to fly out of there the next couple of days I'd be concerned about getting home.

I haven't been to Punta Cana, but from what I've seen on most Caribbean islands there are a lot of people living in what I'd consider a shack.
We are considering moving to Florida. The weather, hurricanes etc wouldn't bother me. It's the aftermath without power that concerns me.

The peak date…for all Those fancy Weather people and like…NASA and stuff…is September 10th…

They happen before and after…7 months a year give or take…actually

For instance…one went right over my house on October 29th once 😱

So by your logic should I hide in Florida that day from now on?

I was actually looking at the spot where the picture attached was taken 2 days later for work

Where you living in fear at again?
Have you looked at the current forecast for Jamaica?
Yeah…you know what Forrest Gump said about it: it happens

Good news is it’s not expected to hit wisconnnsin 👍🏻

If you are in love with them so much, why weren’t you on a plane to Jamaica yesterday? I mean, I wouldn’t willingly spend money to go somewhere that isn’t home so I can ride out a natural disaster (which if you on on a vacation to an area about to be hit by a hurricane is exactly what you are doing) but you do you.

I think Netflix will make an offer to buy Disney in the near future. Disney has a dwindling stock price, a succession nightmare, washed up distribution, and a content problem as well. Netflix, which is on the path towards becoming a trillion dollar company, will buy Disney and become the undisputed leaders in scripted media.

Nah…Bob won’t sell to another media company
