Soarin’ Across America to replace Soarin’ Around the World for Nation’s 250th Birthday

The "like" was to his agreeing to most of my post about good options for the new Soarin. I wasn't aware a "like" was a requirement to be entirely in agreement with a post. I saw that comment and moved on. Apparently, you haven't.
I have no idea what you're talking about. I didn't mention the "like" reaction, nor did it have anything to do with my post.

There are obviously going to be exceptions. The American Adventure is an exceptional attraction in several regards, and one of the few to deal explicitly with some of the tougher aspects of history. But as a general rule, and especially on attractions like Soarin', reminders of real-life warfare, terrorism, etc., are avoided at Disney.
Again, they're identifiable landmarks that were off the top of my head. What Disney does is up to them.

His post:
I like this list but I don’t think they want to remind people of 9/11 so I don’t think the Freedom Tower/ ground 0 will be included. I also don’t think they double dip on Yosemite and let that be a Soarin Over California destination exclusively. In fact, I’m thinking there’s really no reason to include any California destinations considering it has a whole version dedicated to it. Mayyyybe just the Golden Gate Bridge since it’s so iconic?
I "liked" it because he liked my list. I agreed with him on the double dipping of Yosemite/Yellowstone. But apparently, my "like" requires me to agree with his entire post. Unlike you, I'm not making an issue over Freedom Tower / Ground Zero. Whatever, I just included them as possibles to be included. Can we please move on?

Excellent idea!

The Statue of Liberty is "American" because it resides in NYC but it was constructed by Gustave Eiffel (recognize the name?) and his team in France. It was shipped in 1884 and finally dedicated by October 28, 1886.

Icons I can think of (in no particular order are):
  • Statue of Liberty
  • Golden Gate Bridge
  • Arizona Memorial / Diamond Head
  • Mount Rushmore
  • St. Louis Arch
  • "Sears" Tower (or whatever it's called now)
  • Freedom Tower/Ground Zero
  • Washington Monument/Lincoln Memorial/Jefferson Memorial/Capitol Bldg/WH (Washington Mall)
  • Old Faithful (Yellowstone NP)
  • El Capitan (Yosemite NP)
  • New Orleans (because of Tiana)
  • Grand Canyon
  • Independence Hall
  • USS Constitution
  • Lighthouses in Maine
Hmm, good choices... I'd also throw in 1) El Morro Fort; 2) either Mauna Loa erupting, flying over Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, or surfing off Waikiki; and 3) dogsledding along the Yukon. I feel like including Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alaska gives a fuller breadth of how varied America is.

(They could even be REALLY cynical if they want and have the Hawaii shot include Aulani... but shhhhhh don't give them ideas!)

Serious wish list for scenes:
Mt Mckinley (Tallest U.S. mtn)
Olo'upena Falls (Tallest U.S. waterfall)
Mississippi River (Longest U.S. river)
Key West (Southernmost point in the continental U.S.)
Barrow Point (Northernmost point... and NO cartoony CGI polar bears!)
I like that these are all natural wonders. I definitely lean toward that.

I made a small addition to your post 😉 The southernmost point of all 50 states is on the Big Island in Hawaii. It’s also home to one of only 4 (I think) green sand beaches in the world! It’s amazing

Did you forget American Samoa ? One isle is in the Southern Hemisphere.

Diego Garcia is/was a UK protectorate that the US just leases co location space.
You keep that talk up and I’ll launch a cruise missile at your house 🤬

Personally this is poor taste of desperation. I don’t personally think this is needed at Disney California Adventure until 4th of July.

The problem with McKinley is that they might have to spend a month there waiting for it to be clear enough to get a good shot.

If its ‘sea to shining sea’ will the ride be a linear trip from coast to coast rather than random locales? Maybe start at the Statue of Liberty and end up at the golden gate or maybe Hawaii?

However it goes I suspect Disneyland will make an appearance
