The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

So I messaged MC, as they usually have sources around, they will look into this, but they did mention:

“They’re huge staffing cuts on the way across the entire resort. Disney’s record wage theft settlement, combined with softness in the tourism market have caused them to cut the budgets drastically for labor.”

No chance they'd cut villains out at DLR permanently minus the October-ish period. Budget cuts (especially as the characters are now unionised) are likely the reason why we might not see as many, but they'd never get rid of them that easily like is being claimed. DLE would have fits (as it'd reduce the availability of villains for their shows), and wider WDI would too.

No one is seriously arguing at this point that they're dropping villains forever, so why do we keep going back to that rather than focus on what is clearly happening: massive, current layoffs of character performers?!?
Because that was part of the topic being discussed. If we all want to agree they aren't getting rid of villains I think we can all drop it. :)

It's really sad to see CM lose their jobs, especially in this economy. I thought DL was doing well compared to DW though. Perhaps they are forecasting trends. In any case, I hope they keep the Evil Queen and the other CMs.

You’re so pedantic. They’re being cut from daily operations. Not banished from ever appearing again. Of course for special events or media appearances they could have them appear. But they’ll not be part of daily operations as they have been for many years.

lol, I thought you were waiting to see what happens next month. No reason to throw insults around.

Where’s the insult?

I already know what’s supposed to happen next month and so do other users here. You seem to keep getting the wrong end of the stick
The insult is calling someone pedantic just because you disagree with what they post. Saying that is anything other than an insult would also be an insult so no need to try to say otherwise.

And yes maybe it’ll play out like you say, maybe it won’t. Maybe it’s something different that we’re not all privy to, like maybe it’s just Disney using it as a negotiating tactic, who knows. All of this is just discussion based on some rumors, and they are rumors until it actually happens.

And so yes it’ll be sad if Disney pulls the trigger and shelves all villains except for events. But no reason to resort to insults just because you disagree with what a poster posts.

I don’t see it as an insult, sorry if that’s insulting. I saw it as a fitting word for the scenario. I never want to insult anyone for chatting online about theme parks. I didn’t call you pedantic because I disagree with what you post, I called you it because you were nit-picking saying they villains aren’t being cut because they’ll be used at some point in the future.

You were called out for something you posted that was incorrect.

I hope it doesn’t play out as expected, but unless things really change it will.

I'm sorry but in no world would using the word pedantic to describe how someone is being in a discussion would be considered anything but insulting. If you care to say what you actually meant maybe it wouldn't come across as so harsh, but I can't think of any use of that word to describe someone as anything but an insult.

Still don't know what is incorrect in what I posted, as it seems like there are two things going on here -

1. Disney appears to be laying off (or more precisely letting their contracts expire) some Entertainment CMs (this seems like more what people want to talk about).
2. Disney maybe shelving villains at DLR for most of the year except events.

Now maybe they are interrelated, or maybe not. But I don't see where I've gotten things incorrect. Also I don't see you jumping on other posters who were posting similar things.

Also also, not everyone might be privy to the inside scoop as some of you, or can read between the lines of what some of you are talking about. So unless some of you are prepared to just come out and say exactly what is happening don't get upset when someone reads something else from what is being posted.

We'll see what happens.

To me it seemed like you were claiming the villains weren’t being cut because they aren’t being banned from ever appearing in the park again. Sorry if I read that wrong, but to me, if that is the case, pedantic is the word to use.

It’s already been made clear what is happening. You were the one to question it. Not that questioning things is a bad thing necessarily. I encourage questioning. But you were incorrect in an earlier post saying they won’t be cut because they’re building a villains land at WDW.

Evidently not clear enough, just because it may be clear to you doesn't mean its clear to everyone, or even read the same way.

Everyone reads things differently, and so not everyone is going to pick up on things based on text, especially if its not explicitly laid out and relies on reading between the lines.
