I’m definitely in the minority so it is what it is but as someone whose family doesn’t care for Star Wars or marvel WDW might become a 3 park only trip for us, it kind of already is when my toddler and older parents can’t do coasters anyway
your toddler will not be a toddler forever...
older demographic they never seem to really care about... But being a toddler at WDW is a very short window...

DHS is a a little bit of different park for sure.

Still plenty of stuff to do for the elderly crowd. DHS packs way more shows than any park domestically by leaps and bounds which serve as family safe experiences. Could use more dark rides EVERYWHERE.

That's fair but do think it would be nice (IMO) if DHS was an "adult" park, In the way MK is more catered towards kids

Honestly, I'm more curious what comes after Monsters for DHS.

If what I've been hearing is true... A certain simulator might be getting rethemed...
Sigh.

I'm not opposed to retheming Star Tours in general, but the ride is great as is. It is one thing that helps keep DHS manageable by having a repeatable ride with short waits. It also is one thing that Disney has surprisingly managed to update over time and the new scenes/randomization keeps it fresh.

That all being said, I'd be fine with ST in particular and Echo Lake more broadly being changed - I just think it should not be the next thing for DHS. This is one reason I am not happy with the Animation changeover - while the new stuff replacing Launch Bay sounds good, that backstage area - and connecting it to RNR for better guest flow - is absolutely the most important place to be doing any DHS construction next. They absolutely need to expand the footprint of the park and add more additional capacity before taking down Star Tours or any other existing attraction. At the very least, they should add another attraction somewhere (third ride in Galaxy's Edge?) before touching anything existing.

They can still develop the area behind Animation Courtyard while leaving what they’re doing there alone. Just put the transitional entrance at the existing side street along Sunset Boulevard where Rosie’s is and loop it behind AC to connect back to TSL. You could even open up side access from AC or the interior of the animation building itself for a third connection, plus you could add a second path to RNRC.

I wonder if the Glob, QS and Harryhausens open before the Door Coaster does...
I hope not. They tried phased openings with NFL and SWL and both were worse for it. Lands work as as a cohesive unit and it is misleading and sometimes sets up guests for disappointment when the e-ticket headliner is missing and a ride that was never intended to carry the bulk of the load is asked to do so.

I always thought it would be cool to. Have a new version of Toontown behind the Animation building with Ducktales/Roger Rabbit/etc featured then can connect pretty well to the also comical and goofy antics of the Muppet RNRC.

Can even explain Runaway Railway as the theater could be where Mickey and Minnie “work” usually and have some little fun hints of Mickey and friends leaving the Toontown to “work” in the human world

Yep I mentioned that a while ago too. I love that idea.

Yes exactly. Phased opening never seems a good idea to me. I understand the need for capacity and ROI, but it waters down the impact in my opinion.

Best case scenario, door coaster opens in 2028?

If that means, we have a new Monsters show, restaurant and dining available a year prior - I'm personally good with that.

Logistically, I think you're almost always better off waiting for the big bang opening. Otherwise, you have increased operational costs for something that reviews as "meh", and those impressions persist. The impact of the big attraction is also subsequently diluted. Animation Courtyard is the 2026 stopgap, they'll probably pull out something small for 2027, and then you'll have this area in 2028.

I feel this has to be a 2027 opening? Disney is going to go vertical on this very soon.
I think it's going to be neck-in-neck with Tropical Americas for a 2027 opening? Although one might think there is less construction / change with Monsters, so that might be 2027 and Tropical 2028 and Cars nonsense in 2029? Pretty sure Disney will space them all at least one year apart, so the issue is which is ready the soonest? (I tend to agree Monsters seems the most "fully formed" option, requiring less landscaping, make-overs, full construction than Tropical Americas?)

unfortunately our last 2 coaster projects are hard to compare (Tron and Guardians) because the Covid thing messed up timelines....

The amount of time everything other than Encanto and the doors coaster will take is largely irrelevant, because it will all happen in parallel. Those are the two elements of each makeover that will likely take the longest, so they'll probably be the limiting factor in either project.
