Hollywood Studios Archway Demolition Begins
Walt Disney World has begun the demolition process for the Hollywood Studios archway as part of the Animation Courtyard transformation

Yes.Is this aiming for a summer opening?
I'm embarrassed I don't remember side etchings...maybe Archives was able to save the bas-reliefs?Archway coming down as well. The logo has been removed from the main arch, and the smaller flanking thresholds with the decorative reliefs are gone.![]()

Thank you @Cmdr_Crimson The things I didn't appreciate as a 10 year oldHere's what they looked like...
I think tbh the movie making magic has been a long gone era. Especially with the two main theme parks living so far away from that theme while the other themes of their parks still mostly stayThe archway by itself isn’t something I had any significant attachment to - but it’s a symbol that the park that was once my favorite is now gone.
Still worth visiting, obviously. But it’s a totally different park. There was a really fun quirky element to this park, that may be a sign of the era I grew up in.
Yeah… it was a very 90’s thing. Universal, Disney-MGM, Planet Hollywood.I think tbh the movie making magic has been a long gone era.

Yes… that was intentional. Just like the trees that blocked the views of the castle and provided shade to those in the hub.you can see that the arch really did block some sightlines of Animation Courtyard and hid them from view.
In my opinion, in todays Disney, there is less care about site lines and more interest in selling lighting lane.Sitelines in this park are always going to be tough because it was designed to be a studio backlot where you were supposed to see big giant buildings.
