EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

The Moana thing feels out of place to me, but at least there was some attempt to tie it into the Epcot vibe with education. That said it feels very Adventureland, not Epcot/Future World/World Discovery/whatever the indistinguishable areas are called. It does at least provide a bit of trees and scenery in an otherwise very drab redesign, I guess.
Cute idea, wrong place... That is all I can think of when I see it... I know, I know, it is an educational area that ties into The Seas....but then it doesn't feel tied to The Seas at all...It is it's own thing randomly plunked down in a garden space that relates to nothing... If they had built it next to the Seas...or even had the entrance facing The Seas....it might have felt a bit more a part of The Seas.... but it doesn't at all... Now if they had a similar walk-through themed to education about the Earth on the oppsite side of the path including caverns and things related to growing and geology.....then I think it would feel more in tune with "World Nature" and make the Moana Splash Pad feel more connected to the supposed mission of the area....but there is no Disney IP connected to The Earth or farming currently that would be a draw..... Maybe the girl from "Wish" could wish she was a farmer? ...lol Mostly I just "Wish" i had never wasted the time seeing that movie.....

The educational elements are technically there but don't actually tie into what you're doing. Like, "Water evaporates to create steam. Give the water a high five!". If you told me the educational stuff was tossed in at the last week I would believe you.

It's like a C score on the "Actually Fits" scale. Not good, but everything else has gotten an F, so it looks better by comparison. They should've just put it in Typhoon Lagoon or something.

Also, they really should restrict the number of people inside. I talked about it positively to my family and they all hated it because they didn't get to do anything; all the spots for fun stuff were taken up and when we tried to wait for our turn people would just walk up in front of us.

I had the same experience with excited kids not allowing others a turn at anything....but I guess that is just the nature of kids...lol It would have been a very welcome addition to DAK (WDW's Hottest Park) ....and would have looked and fit beautifully... It would have also made a nice addition to Adventureland, though I am not sure where it would actually fit without removing other things... All they really needed to do was actually attach it to the Living Seas plot and it would not have felt so random... nearby doesn't work...

That's why Walt moved away from this format...stop the bottlenecking. Pirates was initially planned to be "museum-like" but it was acknowledged that people would not move-on as quickly as they needed to move via flumeboat.

I have a hot take, I don't think EPCOT's future world even since the abondement of brand backing pavilions. and that the new middle (while lacking water features and still poorly utilized space) is still better then the purple triangle hanging esiner colors. I think Epcots greatest issue is its forgot the theme of being a worlds fair. What I want from epcot is return to that, besides adding a water feature back to the middle, make each pavilion feel like a pavilion again, not just a face for a ride, make space, land, seas, figment, feel like an actual pavilion with a ride, something that I actually give Comsic rewind a lot of credit for. Also embrace future world is no more and embrace the idea of world discovery, world nature, and world celebration. World nature should be full of trees and flowers, and build off of moana. Also redo the inside of land and seas. With seas being the classic white inside, and land having tall trees that reach the ceiling inside. World discovery make it feel like tech and future central. With cool lighting, futuristic paths, and more. And for world celebration just add a fountain and figure out a better use for the over abundance of flex space which feels less like flex space and more of IDK what to do space. However for World showcase add more countries and rides

I say this because I went to the OSAKA worlds fair this year and it was amazing but it made me sad how epcot no longer feels like that

While I agree all the way especially the first half,,,,however that would have been a waste of a major expansion pad.

This might be a hot take but I'm not convinced that Journey of Water is actually associated with The Seas. Yes, it's water, obviously. However, The Seas pavilion is more about life within the seas, and the original premise of living and working there. I think Journey of Water is more fitting for The Land, especially when you consider the other attractions in that pavilion: Living With the Land, Awesome Planet, Soarin. Whatever, it's still an ill-fit for where it has actually been placed. Or perhaps it isn't...sort of halfway between The Land and The Seas, neither one thing nor the other. But also encroaching on the central hub.

but wasn't that the whole thing when they decided to plop JOW there? that it was part of The Seas? That it was meant to relate....cyle of water and The Seas....and Moana's direct attachment to The Sea... That seemed to be the justification when they started the build.... But in reality there seems to be no relation of one to the other....Making JOW just feel random.

Yeah, it's really only the Moana connection that ties it to the Seas. The subject matter is otherwise The Land. The cycle of water does include seas, but it also includes mountains and land, rainforests etc. And sky. So JoW does indeed belong where it has been put. Randomly In the middle of nowhere!

Pretty sure you're conflating fan justification with what was officially stated. Many thought it might open out into the hub, acting as an approach to The Seas. That obviously isn't and never was the intention.

No no no, you're just not thinking like a TDO and Burbank exec. It all fits together:

- Movie IP mandate in the parks
- Moana sailed on the ocean
- Oceans are water
- The Living Seas deals with water
- Journey of Water is thus tied to The Living Seas

It's a perfect fit! Makes total sense (just ignore all the truths in what you wrote ;) ).

If anyone wants a hot take... what was the central spine before was far better than what's there now. :cautious:

The same logic they are using for Indiana Jones in Animal Kingdom.

Whenever people post pictures of the old place in defense of the new one I can never see what part of it is supposed to be worse than what we got.

Even Electric Umbrella (awesome name by the way) looks more pleasant than the hospital cafeteria they installed.
