Let’s not forget the greatest piece of Tron IP ever: the Tron speed tunnel on Disneyland’s Peoplemover. I loved that thing!
There were parts of the movie that I think you'd like, I specifically thought of you during some of the references. I think you'd like it yourself. My son just got back from the movie with two of his friends. They all said they liked it. The theater wasn't full by any stretch but it was an early show. None of them said it was great or they loved it. But it seemed like they all had fun watching it.
This year we are expecting K-Pop Demon Hunters and lots of anime. You’ll have to brush up for recognizability. You’ve probably missed the explosion of these genres on your sabbatical.
TRON Ares, like Legacy, really NEEDS to be seen on the biggest screen possible…IMAX or IMAX 3D or nothing.
Go big, or just go home.
This movie is a visual spectacle…an ‘event’ in a sense with the amazing visuals and throbbing music.
A lot of ‘whoa’ moments…and the 3D honestly adds to the whole experience and is not just being used as a gimmick.
This is just not going to have the same impact as squinting at it on a video screen at home.
The sound alone is worth the price of admission.
Just WOW…!
I loved it, but then again I am a big Tron nerd.
I am also not coming into the film with any prior knowledge of the actors or actresses in the film, so eveything is fresh and ‘in world’ to me.
Ignore the reviews…just go see it.
You can thank me later.

And miss out on any theatrical income?Tron Ares should’ve debuted straight to Disney+. This isn’t 2010 anymore.
Direct-to-streaming movies also do worse on streaming than theatrical releases. And miss out on any theatrical income?
Since when does that matter? They don’t need BO because any piece of hot garbage makes TRILLIONS on streaming now…And miss out on any theatrical income?
It had an uphill climb no matter what…just like the first two did.You can always tell if a movie will bomb when there is no advertising at the parks. No Elio character in the parade. No Tron dance party.

Definitely not. How is anyone supposed to make that relationship between a color change and new movie?Turning the Tron ride red isn’t enough?
I don’t buy that for a second. That is the old farts in Hollywood trying to justify a washed up distribution model.Direct-to-streaming movies also do worse on streaming than theatrical releases.

Nothing that can’t be tanked these daysBox Office first pass is in for this weekend. Tron: Ares delivered $33 Million domestically.
Maybe it will help that it's Columbus Day weekendand many folks have tomorrow off to go see this one?
On the flip side, The Hollywood Reporter is reminding readers this morning that Tron: Ares debut weekend was $10 Million less than forecasts, and likely ends the attempt by Burbank at "rebooting the franchise".
