"D’Amaro’s increasingly public profile has left insiders with the distinct impression that he is the favorite.."

Oh.. ""insiders"" have an ""impression."" Must be true!!!

He left once before. It has happened. Thinking it can't happen is denying history.
Bob can totally leave, and will. Eventually...

His employment contract made him a consultant to the company for a period of 5 years after his official separation. Bob I. never gave up his office with the shower in it to Bob C.
You're mixing timelines now

The consultancy thing is pretty standard practice... a way to compensate for "I'll take your call" and part of the golden parachutes.

The shower thing was while Bob was still Chairman.. and not separated from the company. Ultimately he did separate after the chairman role was swapped... and the consultancy is that.. on-demand obligations.

Chapek never got the office. It was in the NYT hit piece on Iger.

No it was not.

Again, the NYT reference is to when Iger went from CEO to board member. It's not referenced again in the NYT story.

And others also reported on this and say once Iger actually retired fully - BC took the space

Iger did leave - the consultancy payout doesn't change that.. which is why the board members had to come to him on his terms.

No you’re wrong. Chapek specifically complained that even when Iger left as chairman he still did not get Igers office and then he was gone a couple of months after.

fox reporting
Chapek’s assumption of the office with the shower reportedly took place once Iger finished out his executive chairman position at the end of 2021

cnbc reporting
With Iger gone, Chapek could finally run Disney his way. He moved into Iger’s larger office, the one with the private bathroom — but he never actually used the shower, as Iger predicted, according to people familiar with the matter.

I can’t believe we are sainting Chapek now. 😂

He was served a couple of bad cards. But his demise was entirely his own. Most of the unwinding came via Wall Street down to his overhyping DTC. Misleading subscriber growth and dumping content to D+. His laundry list of other social flubs gave him no capital to weather that final quarter.
I am not "defending" him. His creative approach was as bad if not worse than Iger and he almost single handedly undid all the work WDI had done to make DCA a cohesive quality park. That being said I will acknowledge he should have never even have been considered for CEO and the circumstances behind his hiring and subsequent firing are suspicious to say the least.
