Refurbishment coming to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort lobby

Please join me in two month in which I blather on that (almost) all the topiaries aren't really topiaries.
I was ready to type my “but the topiaries!” reply but you beat me to it! Haha.

I loved buying a gingerbread shingle from the house and then settling in for some Christmas music performed by the Grand Floridian orchestra and then catching a bus to the studios for some comedy warehouse and Osbourne Lights. Those were the days :)

I think what's genuinely at risk of leaving is the ability to purchase goods from the gingerbread house. There will likely continue to be a gingerbread display of some sort regardless of whether or not they feel traffic flow allows for the current queue situation to persist.
I could see a smaller display staying. I don't think they will do a house unless they can make money from it

How could they not be making money from it?
They definitely are making money from it. I was responding to another person's comment that there will be a display, but there is a risk that people won't be able to purchase items from the gingerbread house due to queue constraints. If Disney can no longer have a queue for purchases (and people can't make purchases), then I think a large gingerbread house could be in jeopardy. Purchases likely fund the creation of it. But a smaller display would remain.

I don't think gingerbread house will go away. I think the location will change to move some traffic off the monorail loop and potentially somewhere else where there is already a lot of people present to drive up sales. I think they could be using construction this year as an excuse to test a different location.

I'm staying at GF this holiday season and am glad it may not be so crowded in the lobby. I'm likely not the only one.
