New Enhancements, Dining Options Coming to Disney’s BoardWalk

I hadn't been to the boardwalk area in years but we went about a month ago and was surprise how busy it was - lots of people hanging out, lots of families getting ice cream, etc.

It was largely in one area so (the central courtyard area if the hotel over towards Cake Bake Shop) so maybe they found people don't really go the other way and will concentrate offerings in one area before doing something more major to the Jello rolls/big river grill area?

Agreed. Just spent a couple weeks at the BW and it was fairly crowded especially at night from cake bake to the village green. Nothing going on past that.

They were willing to reopen the ice cream shop under their own management after Ample Hills imploded so maybe there’s hope.
I didn’t think Ample Hills was fully 3rd party - was it? It appeared to be staffed by Disney CM’s.
The counter service scene around Crescent Lake sucks.
Agreed. The pizza used to be a decent option but it’s gotten very expensive for only basic slices. The bakery is good quality for what it is - but pretty limited options for an entire resort. And then there are the corn dogs!!! Haha

Do you not count/consider the swan and dolphin properties as part of Crescent Lake (really asking not trying to be snarky) as i think they have a good selection of those types of places

I think Swan and Dolphin are outside of the Disney Resorts....so they are not counted in a lot of ways..... They also lack any decent quick serve...Unless they have completely redone the space, Picabu was terrible, The Fountain is small but OK, They have a coffee shop and I am not sure what the Italian place is like.... If I am staying at the Boardwalk I don't want to have to wander over to the Swan and Dolphin and lurk around their basement levels looking for something to eat...lol
The Boardwalk has multiple vacancies they could fill with something accessible and something available late night after parks close. I would even be OK with them putting in a Crescent Lake Fast Food location if it were open late and had a decent menu.... Disney's Late Night food scene is terrible... Not all guests are traveling with toddlers that have to eat at 5pm and go to bed at 9pm.... The resorts all need a decent late night option... open until midnight.

I don’t as I never walk all the way over there and the last time I did, noticed they were far more expensive than Disney. Paid something like $15 for an egg wrap and said, “never again.”

They only sell slices now too, right? You used to be able to order a whole pizza.

Oh yeah! That too.

It’s really bizarre they don’t offer a whole pizza actually.

I know they used to have different kinds of pizza as well, I can’t remember what I got, but I know it wasn’t cheese or pepperoni.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they used to have sausage and also veggie pizzas.

I think the individual slices they sell now are about a quarter of the size of the whole pizzas they used to sell but cost half as much, so it's a much worse deal.

Funny to me (full discosure I haven’t measured it just going off feel) but it seems to me depending on where you are on the boardwalk the walk to swan and dolphin is closer than the yacht and beach club

That’s a $40 pizza! That’s double the price they charge for a whole pizza at pop century so even by Disney price standards that’s crazy.
They stopped selling whole pizzas because they were routinely hitting one hour waits and just couldn’t keep up, which seems to have happened after Covid when the little QSR stands and ESPN didn’t come back. Good example of how cutting things in one place has a negative consequence elsewhere.
