Thinking of WDW specifically, I agree.

- Muppet*Vision was the last one around and was Jim Hesnon's last work, etc - it has the most historical significance.

- The loss of the River changes MK a lot, but there still exists the original version of it at DLR

- Dinosaur is just terrible, so good riddance
Which does nothing for guests at MK, of which there are more than at any other park. I mean, I get the reasoning, but I also hate it.

I agree about Muppets - a terrible loss!

I will allow you to be wrong about the loss of RoA and Dinosaur ;)

This is all in good fun but seriously, Disney will continue to make mistakes no matter what we say here.

These wont be the last mistakes they will make.

They may again compound mistakes like when they destroyed EPCOT future world and replaced it with an ugly planter and broken in ground lighting.

All we can be is spectators to the trainwrecks.

well, it was ranking not grading each move .... but as a Disney fan if the 1 had to go I would much rather the ROA in MK go than the one in DLR

Will just note how many rivers are on the east coast vs west coast

You really just don’t get it do you?

I guess whenever they decide to get rid of the Castle at Disneyland Paris they can just say “do you know how many castles we have in Europe?”
I think the castle is a far more identifiable and important monument to the Disney parks than a river. But I did say the castle was one of my core components of a Disney park. If they replaced it with something that was better than the castle somehow and served a purpose as an icon of the park, I would support it as well. I'm not going to say we shouldn't do something better just because it was like that before?

“Better” is subjective though. Nothing will be better than an operating steamboat for me.

I'm absolutely not in favor of removing the RoA at the Magic Kingdom, but to be fair, Walt Disney didn't really care about the Magic Kingdom. It hasn't been removed at Disneyland, and since they did all the work to preserve it when adding Galaxy's Edge, it probably won't be.

I don't always care for the invoking of Walt by fans and the company because it's so often hollow and pointless and easily shut down with "well he's dead", or "he wasn't alive"...

Much more important would be respecting the men and woman of WED who created The Magic Kingdom (the same crew at Imagineering who are so often lauded for New Orleans Square, Plaza Inn and the '67 Tomorrowland redo) the way they did for a reason, after over a decade of designing and operating Disneyland, for a new market and climate with a significantly higher budget.

Instead of decrying The Magic Kingdom for recycling basic ideas, it should be admired for totally redesigning so many of them from the ground up. And not just the Utilidors or bigger castle.

The funny thing is that It’s tough to be a bug isn’t even on the poll and I think Disneylander’s would put that second behind Rivers.

It's Tough to be a Bug specifically, or Bug's Land as a whole?

I think the latter is the reason why there's more attachment to it in California

But the fact they forgot about it speaks volumes.

Hahah yeah doesn’t seem as beloved out there but who knows maybe after the Zootopia show comes out they might find a new appreciation for it kind of how many of us suddenly became nostalgic for Bugs Land after we saw its replacement.

But second?? Splash Mountain? TOT? Country Bears? PeopleMover?

EDIT: oh you meant how West Coasters would rank lost WDW attractions. Personally I’d put their Splash Mountain in the #2 spot or GMR but I’m sure there is an old Epcot attraction that I’ve never seen that night deserve that spot.

The Destruction of RoA, TSI and the riverboat and replacing them with cars is about MONEY!

The MONEY they save in maintenance by erasing RoA, TSI and the riverboat and the MONEY they will make selling LLs to the new attractions.

Never get confused any of these changes are to enhance the theme or enhance the guest experience.

MK is devolving away from a theme park and into an amusement park because MONEY.
Iger's Disney in a nutshell.
