MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

What's confused me since the paperwork was filed was why SO MUCH land needed to be cleared for lay down yards? I realize there's no turning back, but if you look at the cleared land it seems more than half the acreage of the Magic Kingdom itself...but all towards the update of a footprint the size of RoA?
I saw somewhere it was speculated that the reason that there is so much land clearing and Imagineering support facilities at MK is because Piston Peak and Villians Land are not the only projects scheduled for MK in this 10 year plan.

It makes sense of they will be working for 10 years they need Imagineering support facilities.

Wow..... 10 years....... Time will only tell what we end up with....

Looks like at least part of this is for pretty permanent building and a large parking lot for Imagineering and other workers - probably to be a centralized location for this wok and other projects around property but so on site together ... So for more than *just* the ROA work

The permits do not show any structures being built in the laydown yards.

The size of the yard is not unreasonable. It's about 34 acres. For comparison the laydown yard for the Toy Story Land/Galaxy's Edge project was around 30 acres.

Here's hoping it's a, "both, and." ....that they are indeed ultimately going to have something permanent for guests in at least part of this recent clearing.

Ok, maybe I am mixing up which are laydown yards but was thinking of this one

Yup. That's a parking lot all right--and a quite a huge one (several times larger than the one they were going to put the axed "Main Street Theater." :( But what about the other 3 adjacent lots they just cleared? With your graphic it now looks like only the lot to the NE has a remote shot of becoming guest area. Thank you for this response!

Given the size of the parking it’s not unreasonable.

A hotel being built south of it also seems overtly on the project short-list.

I am happy to see Disney creating all these new facilities for their Imagineers in addition to giving them the awesome Galactic Star cruiser for office space too.

Do you think they get all you can drink green and blue milk there? ;)
