Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

A couple notes: I was more referring to how fast steel goes up when that stage starts. I think it looks fast to us because it's way more visible than with other ground-up projects, like Galaxy's Edge, or even Runaway Railway. Secondly, I imagine their pie-in-the-sky opening timeframe could have coincided with the original release of Secret Wars in May of 2026. So if they end up with a Winter 2026 opening, it would be more serendipitous than anything. But December 2026 is a year and a third away, and this is a non-clone attraction, so I just find it unlikely that it will have enough time for a full build and complete testing by then.
Yes but as was pointed out this is really just a big warehouse. So other than the internals of the ride mechanics, which will take the most time, the rest is just an easy build. So this isn't like building a whole new land.

I mean Avengers Campus itself only took 2 years (22ish months in total) from Bugs Land closing in September 2018 to original opening date in July 2020, its opening was delayed due to the pandemic, but it was pretty much ready to be opened in 2 years as it sat waiting its opening. So I'm not sure why you don't think its possible to get these opened in almost the same amount of time.

But hey we'll all be here to see what happens and how long it'll take. Its just great to see new projects moving again in DLR.

I was doing some research on similar attractions and Transformers in Orlando was completed in 11 months. I cannot find an exact timeline for the TAASM in Japan, does anyone know?

Will guests be able to see the un-themed backside of Guardians from this expansion? If so, it’d be cool (I realize it’s unlikely) if WDI could add some theming or at least boost the aesthetic quality of the weird smooth beige back wall.
Other than the top half the rest will be blocked by the new show building, and I assume some other theming to block a bunch of the new show building from the street.

I don't imagine they retheme or change much of the top half of MB.

By guests do you mean in the park or outside the park? There's never really been anywhere in the park you can see the back side of the tower, so I'll assume you meant views from outside the park.

Given that the tower is at a 45 degree angle in comparison to the new ride building, and if the new building ends up ending at the red line I indicated below based on the foundation, then I would say anyone north of the yellow line will still see the back side of the tower as they always have. Anyone south of the yellow line will depend where they are and how far away as to how much of the upper part of the tower they will see.

I just hope this new building blocks the sight of the power lines. And if not, Disney should get the city (or power utility's) permission to paint the towers red and gold and add some thematic doo-dads to them to make them part of the theme...as if they're bringing the juice necessary to run Tony Stark's la

The power lines weren't visible when it was Bugs land were they? When they did become visible? Just recently when they started c learning trees etc back there or have they always been visible for as long as AC has been around?

I doubt they were visible in A Bug's Land, there was a lot of surrounding foliage (and so great! I loved it then with my small kids and going back and looking at videos...wow...the landscaping, rockwork -- simulated dirt -- and placemaking were outstanding. But I digress).

The power lines have been visible in Avengers Campus the whole time, to confirm I found them in this 2021 video.

They can also be seen between the Hyperion Theater and Mission: Breakout, and all behind Pixar Pier from a huge swath of the park.

Thanks for sharing. One more reason to talk crap about AC. All this time lamenting Bugs Land being replaced by AC and never once mentioned the power lines as one of the reasons.

Looking at the framework, it appears the new structure will at least pull focus away from the power lines. Not a solution, but potentially an improvement. Though I suppose that may change based on where you’re standing.

Also I know the conversation has organically moved on from this. But I'd be very surprised if this didn't open in 2027.

Granted - I acknowledge it is somewhat ahead of Encanto. But that one strikes me as coming along too slowly than this being fast. This part of construction always make people think things are happening quickly. It will slow to what feels like a crawl soon enough.

Coco 2028 and Pandora 2029 are my assumptions.

I agree on Avengers and Coco. With Avatar I could see them going for the double whammy with Summer 2030. Simultaneously celebrating DL’s 75th anniversary and DCA’s 30th anniversary.

I looked back on Fresh Baked's coverage of Galaxy's Edge construction and here are some progression images of the RotR show building. The first one seems like where Infinity Defense will be at in the next few weeks to month. This would suggest the exterior of the show building is about 18 or so months from completion (late 2026 or early 2027).

Given the guest-facing facade looks to be standard office park materials (not elaborate rockwork, theming, scenic painting, landscaping...), maybe it would also wrap up at the same time?

Then maybe another 6 more months for the interior/ride to be finished/tested? (Assuming they've started inside at some point along the way, before the exterior was completed).

Yes, that could put opening maybe Summer of 2027, then Coco in 2028, Pandora in 2030.

One thing going for the construction of this building is the lack of rockwork.

Unless they build Avengers Mountain!
