News Destination D23 2025

I am amazed by the people who are so surprised there is no specific parks panel. This isn't D23 Expo. It's never been a place for major announcements. Sure we get a couple but it's not a huge thing like Expo. Usually they do more niche things which is exactly what they announced.

I wasn't expected Expo level announcements, but the past 2 Destinations there was a parks and experience specific panel. It kicked off both events and was an hour+

I don't think it is crazy to think there would have been a session this time as well

I am a bit disappointed by it (obviously) but I think it's partially because these announcements are known to be controversial. Which in a way, should actually be what most of the people who dislike them wanted. Less talk, more action. Just do what you're going to do to the best of your ability.

Wonder if there is some concern that the home crowd would react poorly any time Monsters or Cars Land would be discussed based on the popularity of the attractions they are replacing...

While I admit it's controversial, I also think its coming from a loud online minority. Most of whom by their own admission havent visted WDW in years or decades.

Its definitely a minority especially with ROA as I've seen a lot of people be happy about it or not care what ROA/TSI is. But, news loves a good controversial story. If there are even a few boos, we all know a certain site that will say

"Disney CEO booed off the stage after announcing disappointing update to controversial closure"

(even when its a load of barnacles)

It appears parks stuff will be sprinkled in other panels. I am just seeing a lot of stuff on socials about people being outraged over no major panel. That's not what this event is about.

This is utter garbage, by the way. It’s also a very dishonest debate tactic.

You complain about Disney but still go? Your complaints aren’t real and you can be ignored.

You complain about Disney and stopped going because of your complaints? You don’t visit anymore so you can be ignored.

If Disney’s decisions are too “controversial” to announce in front of a fan event, they’re bad decisions. Entertainment companies need both fans and the general public - both are necessary but neither is sufficient. If a company makes one or two decisions that deeply anger fans but appeal to the GP (bearing in mind that this is always a gross and misleading oversimplification), that might be justified as tough-minded business. If that has become an established pattern to the point that it happens more often then not, executives are making terrible choices.

Yeah, I think some of the outrage is definitely too strong - I am in several groups for the event and lots of not happy people

I am sure it will be a great time - definitely looking forward to a number of the panels!

Encanto, Monsters Coaster, and both villians rides are not replacing any attractions.

Rides / Attractions / Dining being replaced by what all they are doing:
- Dinosaur
- Triceratops Spin
- Primeval Whirl
- Restaurantosaurus
- Chester & Hesters games
- The Boneyard
- Liberty Square Riverboat
- Tom Sawyer Island / rafts
- Rivers of America
- Muppets 3D
- PizzaRizzo
- Mama Melrose
- Rock’n Roller Coaster staring Aerosmith

I’m probably missing some things here, but basically, they aren’t “expanding” and adding a lot more things for guests spread out and to see and do as they should be

Probably a +1 overall? Maybe?

It’s not that the stuff won’t be better…it should be…it’s that you likely won’t get more out of your day…unless you donate a “modest fee”

While this is true and I would like to see more expansion without replacement, like Villains land. They can’t just add all the time without subtracting. Ticket prices are already expensive, and would be much more expensive if they kept adding without subtracting attractions.

Sounds like we should definitely be getting an update on Villains Land:

"
9:05 - 9:50 AM | Disney Villains: Icons of Evil
Join Disney Experiences (and some of your favorite troublemakers) for a panel discussion on how Disney Villains experiences come to life around the world. Hear directly from the creative minds behind new projects and attractions, plus enjoy a special Villains-themed medley to kick off Destination D23 day 2."
I completely agree! I don’t think we should despair just yet.

The ticket prices wouldn’t move much if they had a few more rides…because they increase them constantly and it’s not a profit center anyway

Villains is not where we need updates. That’s so far off that anything they say will likely be vague and general. The lack of information about the Muppets replacement, Muppets coaster, or second Cars ride is more troubling.
There will likely be models on display for both Cars and Villains at some point that give us decent clarity prior to opening. I would not expect anything more beyond perhaps additional art for anything currently happening in Hollywood Studios, though.

I mean Post Covid standards, this is what I come up with.

-MV3D
-Rock n' Roller staring Aerosmith
-Star Wars Launch Bay (M&Gs, shuttered theater)
-Riverboat
-TSI
-Triceratop Spin
-The Boneyard
-Dinosaur
-Carnival Games (Dino-rama)
9 losses

+Monsters theater show
+Monsters Coaster
+Monsters Playground
+Magic of Disney Animation (M&Gs, playground, exhibits, theater)
+Rock n' Roller staring The Muppets
+Cars Rally attraction
+Cars Family attraction
+Villains attraction
+Villains attraction
+Encanto
+Carousel
+Tropical Americal playground
+Indiana Jones Adventure (AK edition)
13 adds

TSI and The Boneyard deserve attraction status for sure, but I'm taking some liberties with the other playgrounds - because they could be really insignificant or substancial in Tropical Americas, Monsters, etc.

Dino-rama carnival games weren't exactly an attraction but listed it nonetheless.

If you want to stretch back and say Primeval Whirl and other river attractions that existed long ago, I guess you could add them in, but you are stretching far at this point.

Unfortunately for the attractions that are leaving, I don't think they had the pull that many people think they did. Including MV3D - remember I did a down and back to say goodbye to this beloved attraction.

I'm also assuming we'll get some positive net M&G areas, but that's also TBD.

They’re spending billions of dollars in the swamp for projects that won’t come online until the end of the decade, unless they’re extremely worried about over promising and under delivering, they need as much hype and excitement behind these developments as possible.

It’s also an admission that for the next several years, they’ve ceded Orlando to the competition.

I’d be pretty honking mad if I were an influencer or social media shill because it leaves them all cut off.

You came up with a lot of stuff not built…like at all…or being built…or even talked about.

Where ya getting your info?

You do understand the difference between a 3 dimensional physical structure and a concept sketch, correct?

In due course…maybe

What about stitch and wonders? Prime real estate, no?
