Hello Friends,

Yup, we're doing it again! We are a day away from flying off to Vancouver, BC (assuming that they still welcome Americans into Canada 😁) and doing our third Disney Alaska Cruise on the Wonder. The last time we did this was back in 2022 when they just re-started this itinerary after being shut down due to the pandemic. In fact, we were on the second cruise since they re-started. While we did enjoy it tremendously, it was clear that they were not fully back yet. There were hardly any merchandise, Palo was rather disappointing, and the stresses of having to get tested before entering Canada, before getting onto the ship and before flying back into the US did not make it into as amazing as it could have been.

For this trip, we're mostly taking it easy. We will arrive in Vancouver mid afternoon on Wednesday, spend a few days there as we normally would (we love Vancouver), and then on Monday, we board the Wonder for the 7-night cruise. We only planned for 2 excursions, and yes, we do have reservation for Palo. I hope the lamb chops are back to the standard before the pandemic.

As usual, I'll try to blog live on whatever we will be up to, leading up to the cruise. Once on the cruise itself, I'll only be able to blog something if I have cell connection (no, not paying for the onboard wi-fi). This promises to be a relaxing, chilled cruise, because that is what we intend it to be. Doing nothing is exactly what I want to do ... well, maybe a bit of shopping.

It is interesting how our Disney trips has evolved. We used to go to WDW 2 to 3 times a year, and then it tapered off to once a year (ignoring the shutdown during the pandemic, of course), and now, we haven't been back to WDW since 2022. We went to Disneyland in 2023, and in 2024, we went to Japan and did Tokyo Disney Resort. As of now, we still do not have any plans of going back to WDW.

I still have quite a bit of packing to do, and we must not forget Donald or I'll never hear the end of it. We get picked up very early tomorrow for the airport, so I'll be turning in early today.

Oooh, as a result of two DCL Alaska cruises (2018 and 2022), we love Vancouver, too! Can't wait to start experiencing your report!

Wait, did we do our two Alaska cruises during the same two years?!!! What are the odds of that?

You need to do one this year quickly or you'll break the streak! :)

Wouldn't it be cosmic if we'd been on the same sailings in the same years?! šŸ¤“

Did you visit Butchart Gardens while in the area?

No, we didn't do that. Other than Stanley Park, Capilano, and Granville Market, we mostly just wondered around the area on foot, so we went as far as our feet would take us.

Capilano was amazing!!

Edit: Butchart Gardens were also AMAZING, could totally see how they inspired World Showcase Canada's Victoria Gardens. The ferry across to Vancouver Island, where the Gardens are, was also exceptionally cool.

We got a rental car when we disembarked, and went straight to the ferry, spent two nights in Victoria then came back to Vancouver, stayed in North Vancouver and did Capilano, discovered a great restaurant in a hotel near the harbor (would've moved to that hotel.if they'd had room) and went back a second night for dinner. I wish I could remember it, or use Google.maps to find it.

If I'm not being too forward, we had a great dinner at Cardero's on the waterfront, if you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend.

Good morning!

I went to bed early last night, and was out like a light by 8:30 pm. I woke up at 2:30 am this morning. 6 hours of sleep is not bad for the day of travel.

I'm all showered and dressed. Have to go around to make sure I have done everything on the list. Our flight is at 7 am, heading to Portland, OR first before transferring to another flight to Vancouver. We should reach Vancouver by early afternoon.

Our friends from Texas who will be joining us for the cruise won't get in till Sunday, so we will be on our own for most of our time in Vancouver, which is different because the past two trips here, we were always with a large group of people. But then again, it will be easier to find a place to sit at Japadog! :)

I'd better go check everything again to make sure I have what I'm supposed to bring. I'll check back when we get to the airport.

We are at the gate. Took a while to get thru security, even in the pre check line because there were people who got in the wrong queue line.

Everything seems to be on time. Plane is not at the gate yet.
