I purchased a pass a few days before they announced this deal. I called on Wednesday and was told the request had to be sent to some higher up team. The CM said there were some accommodations for these situations but he didn’t indicate any specifics. I was on hold for a while, but it was approved. The gift card arrived in my email today. My pass has not yet been activated.

Hmmm, should I call again?

So when you called they said you would be eligible but only once you activated the pass?

I had linked my pass to my account when I called and used it to make park reservations, but that was it. I've since done some lightning lanes, but still haven't used it to go to the parks. The CM said it was a manual process so the gift card might take a week or two to arrive. He didn't say I needed to use it first though.

It never “activates” until you make a Mickey spin. So you two would be in the exact same situation

I mean, why not just lower the AP prices and or ticket prices. They have out paced inflation for years.
Start correcting.
it makes sense to never lower prices and simply run promotions now and then.

In the case of this promotion, Disney wants folks to buy APs but would prefer they not actually use it.

If they really wanted more bodies in the parks (they really don't want this), they would eliminate PPRs and at least adjust blackout dates, both can be done with out touching the price of anything.

Again, Disney is saying please buy APs but we prefer you not show up, like a gym membership ;)

Have they pulled the food discount lever? I remember when things were super soft in 2017 they were handing out 20% dining discounts like relative candy instead of the borderline insulting 10%

Curious, did they say when this offer will expire? We are on the fence about buying annual passes for our December trip and for next year, don't want to miss out on the offer.

Also have there been any reports on when people got the gift cards?

Got one in my email the day I bought a pass for the kid last week…

It went to my spam filter and I just saw it today

FWIW, the AP doesn't 'start' until you use it for the first time, so if you buy it now, you'll have a year from your first park visit in December.
