please Disney bulldoze the speedway and replace it with anything else. I don’t care if it’s a grassy lawn with the superstar limo mannequins. Anything would be an improvement.

I think that would run into issues with the toontown/tomorrowland HOA. I’d rather deal with the nauseating smells.

Still, if there is one attraction I think most can agree (not you) has outlived its usefulness, it's Tomorrowland Speedway, especially with a new Cars attraction.

What is its usefulness? Kids like it. It’s still on LL.

whats the speedway experience? waiting at an airport for a car to pick you up then idling in traffic for 10 minutes?

While I agree that the ride needs to be improved (new cars & get rid of that god awful center rail), the speedway should stay…my 2 DD’s learned how to drive on the gas powered go karts on the Seaside Heights, NJ boardwalk.

I am too, but they might have had to do something more than aesthetics to the speedway as Tron Vehicles would definitely attract a lot more people....and if it was the exact same featureless track and slow cars, it would generate a lot of negative attention... They could have done something in the Cars area based on the Lizzie character with old Model T cars to drive around some mountain features for the younger kids...then they couls actually get rid of the Speedway and do something fun with the space

After Cars Land is built with the Cars attraction, frankly, I don't see the point of the speedway anymore.

Yeah... because it's an iconic IP. It's not my thing but it clearly strikes a tone with the youngsters still.

Same. Cars Land is arguably the best IP land Disney has built. (Avatar being the other in the contest. I like them both. Cars is more fun and more Disney but Avatar is really beautiful as well.)

I kinda question those searches as I think Disney could use them to push the movies it wants to push.

I don’t doubt toddler and preschool kids still watch Cars, but I just don’t know that it’s the hot ticket item that it once was (I say that as someone who thinks that should have no impact on what replaced Rivers, btw. Cars could be the most watched movie in the world and I still don’t think it would be a good replacement. I think Bambi could have been an excellent replacement while acknowledging it’s not a big IP with kids these days.)

Well, speedway is definitely not thrilling. I'll give you that. It's still flat, though. It's not Autopia either. Disney has already decided on the route of replacing items in MK that DL will maintain. ROA is gone. There is no more point in keeping a very short track for speedway either when they will have a thrilling cars ride on the other side of the park.

What I hate about Speedway, besides the noise, is the lack of anything interesting to look at on the drive. Even adding some Disney topiaries or futuristic/sci-fi elements would go a long way. They could add some Stitch elements since he is always driving that pink car in all of his movie promos. It could very well be an easy way to add in current IP and add some synergy. Can they use Fantastic Four in FL? If so, that would be cool too. Literally anything would be better than what we have now.

Getting in for the first time and realizing it's actually not on rails like you thought, with you just controlling the speed and a little useless steering wheel to make the kids happy, the rail is there to make sure you don't go off course because you're actually driving the thing was pretty thrilling for me.
