The soundtrack I am listening to while streaming does not match what I heard in-person.

Sure, the actual parade is a continuous soundscape, but I think what's going on is the parade is moving so fast that you don't get to hear the full track for each float... you maybe hear a third of the piece posted online, and then a whole lot more of the "Starlight Anthem."

In person I barely heard anything of the Wish, Frozen, or Moana theme music... maybe 30 seconds of each float's specific music before going right back to the Starlight Anthem.

It's like the HM ridethrough soundtrack, except the reverse is true. You're riding by in your Doom Buggy so don't get to hear the whole thing. Examples: Seance Room, Attic, Grim Grinning Ghosts while going by the singing busts.

Is there any reason why they break up the actual showmix and release it as individual songs? They did this with Luminous too.
My guess is that they think general audiences would rather listen to individual songs rather than the whole show. I'm a crazy nerd who likes to listen to the whole show so I don't like it. The way they've chopped this soundtrack is particularly rough though, certain songs just randomly start and cut abruptly and they did a terrible job of cutting out the Starlight theme from each unit, you can clearly tell where it's supposed to be, that part is the most baffling to me. I guess they didn't want you to hear the same theme over and over again in the soundtrack but they didn't add anything to make up for it.

I’m curious why they did not include the Electrical Parade fanfare in the release? Can’t help but wonder if that was not originally planned for Starlight and they added it last minute. Maybe someone said the opening music needed a build up instead of starting in a way similar to HEA?
I’m not complaining they stuck the EP fanfare in there but I do think it’s a bit odd and an original opening similar to Spectro would have been a lot better, well and Jiminy as the narrator to lol.

Some may disagree but Magic Kingdom would have been better off with Paint The Night. Overall Magic Kingdom needed a parade on par with Tokyos Electrical Parade Dreamlights and Starlight is not it. Starlights Blue Fairy is embarrassing compared to the one in Dreamlights. As others have said the lack of performers and small floats are a big issue. For me the theme song for the parade is alright but meh. Each floats music is kind of boring. The finale version of Baroque Hoedown is the best part.

It might just be me, but I love the soundtrack. Already planning on buying it off of iTunes

After listening to Starlight a bunch of times over the past week, I’ve started to think that a hint of Light Magic is also in the parade? Listening to the end of the finale for Starlight and then Light Magic - they’re both almost exactly the same.

During Paint the Night the floats are much more spaced out… at times it feels a bit awkward when you can’t see a float in either direction. Perhaps that is intentional due to Disneyland crowd flow issues.

But even if you took away all of Paint the Night’s walkers/dancers (which are much more plentiful than Starlight), Paint the Night’s spacing/staging is more effective. It allows each float/film to have its moment. Starlight feels like a speed run compared to PTN, which is ironic because Starlight’s music is much more slow and regal.
