Why do people keep claiming it is at max capacity? Max capacity would imply no one else could fit in the park.
Capacity is constrained by, but not based on area. There is no occupant load calculation for an outdoor theme park like there is for a building. Capacity is instead a function of the hourly throughput capability of the attractions. Epic Universe could physically fit way more people than would have an enjoyable experience.

Poor wording on my part. When I say fit another person, I don't mean there is literally no more space available. To me, max capacity in the number of folks the park will allow for when operating at full bore. That will obviously largely depend on the companies policies towards staffing, waits, individual attraction capacity, etc.

Outside of MK on some holidays in the past, I can't think of many parks that every hit their max and EU is certainly not hitting that number right now.

I don’t want to over get into it because I’m truly not a tear down Epic person. It’s great. But you are out to lunch comparing current day TDS to Epic. The former can now easily handle twice the guest load.
You're wrong.

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Seriously, though, this is where things go off the deep end. I don't think most people who are big fans of the park would proclaim the only park that rivals it in terms of theming is TDS and that anyone who thinks otherwise just has bad opinions. Like you, I really don't want to have a go at Epic as I think that, capacity and operational issues notwithstanding, it seems reasonable so far to consider it a success. But when people start saying things like this or that MK is a ghost town compared to Epic citing the Haunted Mansion having just a moderate wait time it becomes hard not to bite!

For real. I think Epic looks fantastic, but there is certainly hyperbole being thrown around about its greatness.

Does the ride actually spin like crazy? Sorry, I have avoided spoilers, but that would impact me riding it one day.

I'd like to know this too. It's the ride I've been looking forward to the most, but a lot of spinning would render it a no-go. Love coasters, hate spinning. (Love Forbidden Journey, btw - if it's similar to that.)

No. If you've ridden Forbidden Journey, it's the same ride system but with better designed seats and in my opinion if anything, a less dramatic movement profile so I'd say it's a smoother ride than that one.

It's not as crazy as the model in the queue,

Yeah, the thing at the end of that portion of pre-show with the model is meant to be a (slightly dark) joke but I guess if you're already apprehensive about what you're about to do, it doesn't help with the nerves. 🤣

Why do people keep claiming it is at max capacity? Max capacity would imply no one else could fit in the park. Sold out would imply that no more tickets were available. Neither of those things are true most days so where is this coming from?
They are indeed selling out of single-park tickets. That's where the "sold out" is coming from.

However, there seems to be no end of multiple-park tickets. But these don't sell out because of "friction." People don't want to pay the extra cost, or, don't want to get locked into other parks.

Uni is using EU to get butts in the seats in USF and IoA. Because, as many of us predicted, EU's gain isn't necessarily WDW's loss. EU will eat into USF and IoA also. Comcast is trying to make up for that with the unlimited multi-park tickets. Reminder: Comcast wants UOR to be a week-long destination. Like WDW is.

As for "at maximum" they aren't. But they're at the tipping point for most of the rides' capacity in which more people are getting in line than the ride can handle, which means queues that get longer and longer until people give up trying. That's a type of maximum in attraction capacity.

Another reminder: Disney execs have spoken consistently on how "feeling overcrowded" brought down MK's GSATs. All the price hiking and reservations were to reign in overcrowding. (It also increased income per guest to make up for fewer guests.) Any park that feels overcrowded is going to get a bad reputation.

I wish people would just stay away from this thread if they’re such a hater.

People obsessively shilling for one of the world’s largest companies in Disney is embarrassing, and this is coming from a diehard fan.
...Dude. Are you serious? NBCUniversal is also one of the biggest companies of the planet or did you just forget that part?
They were bought and are part of Comcast as a way to help fix their brand image. They are being funded by the world's LARGEST media conglomerate with Disney SECOND... according to Forbes.

Universal also doesn't need you shilling for them this hard, they can fix their own messes and improve their park.

lol, let it be known thrill data did not show any of this yesterday, but does today! Or I was dumb and didn’t look at it right. Both seem plausible.

I redact my statement that single days are in fact selling out often, but they might be loading same day availability.

Half of the remaining of July is sold out. August and September seems to show a real drop off. And what is typical for the "Summer Season", with kids starting football and band practice, and school starting again mid August.

What we are not seeing is the massive S. American tour groups, Canadians, and Brits.

What I am hearing is Epic's, Helios', and Stella's numbers have been solid. Terra, Stella's schizophrenic twin sister, may be a bit bipolar. I am seeing a ton of Terra Luna specific ads while doom scrolling.

All that said, have we seen free gift cards with your WDW purchases since 2008?

I think if Universal didn't open Epic, Orlando would have had a not great "Summer Season".

I wonder how the new crazy $250 fee for a "Tourist Visa" will improve international travel?

Register on WDWMAGIC. This sidebar will go away, and you'll see fewer ads.
