Just watched it at 11pm.

It was… not good.

Yikes.

Whose idea was to make the parade so dark? And why are the floats so unimpressive? What’s the deal with the people walking not wearing light up costumes? Bizarre all around. Music never committed to anything either. Just a hodgepodge of mediocrity.

Here are the two good float photos:

It doesn’t even hold a candle to Paint the Night. It’s even more pathetic when you realize that Dreamlights in Tokyo is godly.
There's hardly any Spectromagic callbacks besides Jiminy's brief appearance at the final float (which is only seen for a couple seconds).

I believe when the floats go all white and then transition to color is supposed to be a callback to Spectromagic.

Why though? Does he get an extra honey baked ham for his Holiday Bonus?

What is the incentive to cut live entertainment? And landscaping? Etc.

Is this an MK management problem? Epcot seems to be doing a great job in comparison.

And it is more focused on # of performers vs expense elsewhere?

Like did they really need all the hand bead work if the dresses that are hard to see (as one example)? Couldn't we have skimped a little there and added a few more performers?

It doesn't look like they didn't spend any money on the parade tech and stuff - is it hard to get performers? Price per performer gotten too high that cutting them is best way to save total $

On here it seems more negative than positive which I know is normal for a lot of things lately lol but I’m curious what everyone else is saying and the average guests opinions? or should I say the groups of people that Disney actually cares about.

General consensus I am seeing is overall positive and enjoying it (though hard to tell how much is the specifics for this parade vs just having a night time parade back) and thinking the floats are impressive but even in casual circles seems the lack of dancers, and character not on floats, etc is noticed and commented on

Along with the other stuff that we've all mentioned, why is the TITLE float at the very end of the parade? Is it because the current first float is so ridiculously massive that it would be dwarfed in comparison?

All of the floats look so much better in their colorized version (if the audience even gets to see them).

It’s because it ruins the marketing image of the blue fairy coming to down the street. The same reason the OUACT push unit is at the end.

It’s almost like the creators of every. single. night. parade. before understood this very issue and chose to create title units that displayed the title perpendicular to the route towards the audience on both sides of the street rather than facing straight ahead. 🙃

Wasn’t the Spectro title float entirely behind the trumpeters and Mickey?

From what I've seen, most of the local guests are just happy that MK has a night parade again and can enjoy the overall parade. The average guests that are just on a typical vacation I would assume don't even think much of it

I was hoping for a spiritual successor to SpectroMagic like Paint The Night was for The Electrical Parade.

Can win em all I guess.

Maybe in 20 something years, assuming we don’t go through another nighttime parade drought, they will replace Starlight with something more like SpectroMagic since Starlight is more like MSEP. I would assume whoever designs the next parade will also look at parades of the past.

If Starlight was at Disneyland I wonder what the reaction would be? I don’t necessarily think the fans would totally shred it like Light Magic but I do think feedback would be a lot louder. Disneyland would quickly listen and make changes.
