Cars is sadly happening no matter what. News could come out tomorrow that Lightning McQueen isn’t popular anymore but it’s too late to change course now. For all we know, the riverboat could already be in pieces.

Some unnamed finance person ( who has no actual theme park experience) at Disney has a big smile on their face today knowing that their slideshow presentation (when I say their slideshow, I mean the one they told their intern to create) projecting how much money WDW will save and how much money they will make selling LL, is saying to their self “I made this happen, I closed Rivers of America” and is smiling with pride.

Only time will tell if it’s fake or over-exaggerated. I hope the end up with a river front like is in the fun map.

If we get a couple of water features in the end product, is the fun map fake or over-exaggerated?

I guess it really doesn’t matter, we are going to get what we get - see World Celebrations gardens planter and forever broken in ground lighting.

I had a chance to visit DCA recently. In my view Cars Land and Grizzly Peak areas are two of the best themed in any Disney park. I’m still dismayed at this project but if they combine the best parts of those lands into one land that’s not a bad thing.

If WDW’s carsland could get anywhere near the detail and theme that of the DCA carsland that would be great!

Only time will tell. I am not optimistic. I hope I am wrong and everyone can reply to this post 3 to 5 years from now.

Exactly my thoughts.

Those two lands (with Buena Vista Street) are doing so much heavy lifting with making that park thematically coherent.

The choice of IP for this project is unsettling to say the least. But there is a glimmer of hope that the best bits of Grizzly Peak and its' surrounding rock work (looking at you, gorgeous waterfall adjacent to Avengers Campus) will make this a unique Frontierland.

Still doesn't justify the removal of the RoA.

Unfortunately there were a bunch of fake insiders leading up to that event. Mostly grifting off of Disney’s own 2022 showcase. I don’t think it was decided on late in the game. At least six months before D23 and worked on a good year before.

Even the one being quoted I’m skeptical of. My track record of getting things right for D23 that were actually not previously mentioned at the prior conference was higher and I literally knew nothing and educated guess like the best of them.

I include myself in this, I just didn’t want to listen to the very few people who actually knew when it came to Cars. Because it sounded worse.
