To be fair… this is isn’t for shareholders. It’s a risk - just like the Star Wars hotel was. There is no guarantee it will be a financial win.

Slapping cars paint on the speedway would be the cheap way out. (And preferable for me).

Cars are still loud - goto RSR and you see the same and they only go a fraction of the speed.

Tires+Ground+wind noise.. it's every neighbors nightmare.

I will forever disagree on the "why."
Those who disagreed with the ride had a weak argument that deserved to be squashed.

I’ve said before, my observations and the data Disney must have don’t particularly line up on Cars. I just don’t see much of a Cars presence beyond toddlers (and even there it’s not huge) when it comes to Gen Alpha, but maybe that’s just my area. Or, alternately, maybe it’s like Paw Patrol. That’s a franchise purchased mostly by very young children and they still sell tons of merchandise. Parents of little kids are often enthusiastic consumers.

The last reports of any consequence on the supppsed merch juggernaut is incredibly dated. Like, over a decade old. But it’s repeated as gospel it still sells a ton of merch without any backed up evidence.

This isn’t going to be cars land at all. It’s going to be Frontierland with a Cars attraction. Wish the “land” talk would stop already.

There’s been a lot of “it’s not a Land” talk and people suggesting it’s only going to be a single attraction. Disney has announced and shown multiple attractions within the land.

Which begs the question: have they already cut back on the budget for this project? Do you have info to share? Or are you being intentionally misleading by trying to understate the announced scope of this project?

Cars is very high on the list of highest grossing franchises - but how it’s slowed down I’m not sure if that is reported.

Pokemon is #1 followed by Mickey and then Winnie the Pooh.

That’s not how this works. When people make baseless claims as to how popular the merchandise is, I’ve repeatedly asked for some recent evidence more recent than, say, 2011 that it still moves a lot of merch like it may have in the 2000’s. Nothing. Someone here (not necessarily this thread) pointed out the franchise used to be singled out in the earnings reports given how much it made, but that’s been many years ago.

Nothing is stopping Disney from having dedicated cars merch stores at WDW and yet…. There isn’t one.

Cars is a hugely successful franchise - because of merch though. That is true.

Yes, “Cars-themed attractions” not “Cars-themed Land”. The footprint of all of this is not as large as many of you are making it out to be. It is truly just Frontierland expansion. Which is honestly how I prefer it to be. Single IP lands have no business being in the castle parks.

That’s interesting, I wonder what more recent merch sales have been like? Also wonder if a Cars 4 would get sales back up.
