MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

What if they make the water barrier more of a rapid? The noise helping to drown out the cars.

in the last write up from Disney they talked about designing to prevent noise bleed - they were specifically talking about by the Haunted Mansion. Not sure if they will have rapids, but waterfalls and geysers and just the rock work can all help with that

If you read my post before that one, I said that there is a minimum of +3 attractions with just these projects. With your 15 years (Not sure when you're starting from so I'll go from 2015) they've also given us as extra capacity: Tron, Space 220, Roundup Rodeo, Ratatouille, Royal Sommerhaus, Sunset Showcase Theater at HS (Lightning McQueen, then Villains), Galaxy's Edge & Toy StoryLand was +1 compared to 3 permanent attractions on Streets of America, and Pandora because CMM's only attraction was moved to Africa instead of replaced. I make that +10 attractions and +2 restaurants

I totally agree.

In my opinion, this will be done on the cheap so it will not have the quality of RSR and I think initially it will command lines because its new just like Moana did when it was new.

One thing for sure, we are going to have many years to argue about this before it opens.

As someone who doesn't like the 'slot car' ride system, I am confident that this will be a superior experience overall.

I don't think anyone necessarily has a problem with the aesthetics of the new crap, so long as you don't hear ka-chows and whatever else from the surrounding areas.

I do think that a lot of people are most upset that this couldn't have been an addition rather than a replacement.

I think that's more an excuse than a real concern. If this were at the expense of something like Philharmagic I don't think people would be crying over replacements. The replacement woe is usually more about fantasy/ignoring realities.. right up there with 'they should just open the 5th gate'

I personally think it's going to be the same caliber as TT 3.0. Not great and not terrible.

I sure hope not... TT3.0 is a poster child for empty fan service and a ride doomed to being boiled down to just enjoying the ride system. Like people riding Tiana just for the log drop. bleh!

If it were from Fantasyland, you could have the transition be the dark forest from Snow White. I hope they build some sort of entrance to the land from Fantasyland, because otherwise Villains is a new dead-end! A dead-end that was meant to solve a dead-end problem.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be to reroute the service road that runs from the Tangled bathrooms to Be Our Guest, but it's a possible entrance to the land. Would fit much better thematically, too, since Villains Land is just "Fantasyland but only the bad guys"

this was always my ideal idea for villains. im doubtful tho i think its gonna be a dead end

RSR opened in 2012 and it had a huge budget. There is no way they'd spend that kind of money now. even if they did somehow, I don't think it would be nearly as charming or well thought out.

Im thinking the red area will be the land and the black area the show buildings, with a new path connecting from BTM to HM area, so creating a big loop that the villains area will be off of rather than a dead end.

Cars last movie bombed and it’s no longer the merchandising juggernaut that it was more than a decade ago.

It has certainly receded. But we should still denote Cars had over 1B in merchandise sales in 2024. I’m having trouble sourcing if it was ten or eleventh in front or behind Lion King.

The hope would be to still water it and keep it evergreen.

The issue isn’t that they don’t spend that much. They spent about as much on TRON. It’s just that today they get giant warehouses for that spend.

Well I would think 2 things:

1. The grass patch is not real and temporary, Cars and Villians are proven successful IP and MK needs the capacity boost.

2. Barely anyone bothered to show up for TSI closing, I've seen bigger crowds for both Dinoland/Triceratops Spin closing and ITTBAB. I think its last day truly shows how the public reacted to TSI. It went out with an eh.

Magic Kingdom may have already fixed its capacity problem.

Its a temporary dam. I think they have figured how to remove a riverboat every time they drain ROA. Except this is the last time doing it.

Likely a sign that they're just going to tear the paddle Wheeler apart.

You're completely missing the point. You didn't have to close these in order to build what you're building. That was the point and you know that.

The parks don’t have sufficient capacity now. They’re going from insufficient to still insufficient.

Again the capacity has been pretty good this summer.

If Disney was smart they would have some updated concept art for Villains land ready to show to get people excited about what is to come. Might help people see some light at the end of the tunnel.

This assumes villain's land ever gets built. But I have zero faith that something that has an opening date so far beyond the horizon is actually going to happen. I'm not saying it's not, but I'm definitely not saying it is.

Is the main attraction likely to be an Headliner E-ticket? It looks cool but not on the same scale as Radiator Springs Racers.

I imagine it's going to fit into the same menu niche as Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Which is also my tactful way of saying it's exactly how you'd classify that attraction. In fact, I would not be surprised if it finally displaces it for LLSP.

But is it a destination headline like Radiator Springs Racers? Absolutely no chance in the world.

I agree. 7 dwarves is nice for what it is. But remember how they raved about the swinging coaster cars? They aren’t that big of a deal - novelty yes. Reminds me of how they talk about the “drifting” ATV’s and all.
