Since the walls will be up for three to five years Disney should lean into to and put some viewports in the walls. They can use shatter proof plexiglass for safety.

It means exactly what it means - it was the most accessible moving (ride) attraction at Walt Disney World. I think.

On that note, how come Disney never does anything big for closures? How hard would it have been to have Mickey come out and ride with guests on the final riverboat lap? I feel like they prefer to pretend things aren't closing, just letting them shut down without fanfare, and then pretend they were never there once the new thing is fully built.

Which is craaazy. I remember seeing the last performance of MSEP at DLR broadcast on local news! On the flip side, attraction openings are pretty lame now too lol. Nothing like the pomp and fanfare of the 70s-90s.

Well I would think 2 things:

1. The grass patch is not real and temporary, Cars and Villians are proven successful IP and MK needs the capacity boost.

2. Barely anyone bothered to show up for TSI closing, I've seen bigger crowds for both Dinoland/Triceratops Spin closing and ITTBAB. I think its last day truly shows how the public reacted to TSI. It went out with an eh.

Worth pointing out that the concept of docking the Riverboat and making it a restaurant (quick service or snack stand) is something they've considered for decades, even in Disneyland- the scrapped Discovery Bay land was going to have the Mark Twain and Sailing Ship Columbia permanently docked and used as dining space. Who's to say Magic Kingdom and the Liberty Belle couldn't get the same treatment? Put the riverboat outside TBA, have it sell beignets and mint juleps, maybe have a jazz band that plays on the upper deck for people like in the movie. Great way to save the ship while adding more theming to the TBA area.

What I wanna know is- what's gonna happen to the glowing eye owl animatronic in Harper's Mill? That guy is super charming, I hope he's moved to be outside the Haunted Mansion or something. I love me some simple 70s-era animatronics.

This is not an accurate placement of Discovery Bay, or at least the version with which most people are familiar. It would have been in the Big Thunder Ranch area and connected to a circus area on the site of today’s Fantasyland Theater.

If Cars is such a blockbuster franchise, you would think they would have fast-tracked a new film when they recently panicked about the box office and sought refuge in sequels, announcing new films in the Coco, Incredibles, Toy Story, Frozen, and even Ice Age series - or perhaps they could have greenlit it earlier like the Zootopia and Moana sequels.

Sure seems like a mixed message.

• MK will have an additional 2 attractions as 2 Cars + 2 Villains are replacing TSI and Liberty Belle. Plus, Tron literally opened 2 years ago without replacing anything. That's +2
• HS opened Little Mermaid to replace Muppet Vision's capacity (Villains replaced Lightning McQueen so was just a swap) and when the Door Coaster and Monsters Show opens, HS will have its largest attraction lineup since September 2011 when Journey into Narnia closed (20 attractions in 2011, 21 attractions when Monstropolis is complete). That's +1
• AK's is replacing everything with something new, with Encanto having a larger capacity than Primeval Whirl. Whilst we may be down to 19 attractions in 2026, we'll be back to 23 attraction in 2027 (the same capacity as AK had in 2024) - That's =0

No subtractions in the long term, but actually 11 new attractions (Zootopia 3D, 4 Tropical Americas, 2 Monstropolis, 2 Cars, 2 Villains) replacing 8 attractions (ITTBAB, 4 Dinoland including Primeval Whirl, Muppet Vision, TSI, Liberty Belle)

I’m not sure you understand what “subtraction” means.

All that new stuff could have been added without bulldozing existing capacity. That’s one of the key reasons Disney made the Florida resort so big!

Capacity is useless if people don’t want to experience the attraction.

I can call an open field an attraction with 10,000 capacity an hour. Pretty sure nobody wants that.

Little Mermaid just replaces itself....so with the closing of Muppets, we are still down 1
and we should not necessarily be thinking "Wow! we might be back to an attraction count from 1994..." With all the construction we will only be up 1 attraction in more than 15 years?? That is pretty pathetic actually.
