MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Let's put it another way. Attractions (ROA, Liberty Belle, and TSI) promoted by Walt himself are removed in favor of a company that Disney bought and the IP chosen from that company is Cars? Walt is rolling over in his grave.

By this standard walt would have knocked himself out rolling over from what the company has done since his death… epcot… touchstone.. dca… and just about every content acquisition… etc

The problem with the WWWD crowd is they can only try to repeat what Walt did previously. Doing exactly what Walt was against for himself… repeating himself. They can’t duplicate his path because he was always chasing something new.

Animation? He left it when his interests changed. Copy cats can’t comprehend such pivots.

This focus on only doing what was done before is what caused the stagnation of tbe company in the 70s and nearly broke it. They could not manage the changing world and tastes.

So there’s no point in arguing what he would have liked or disliked. No one knows and it doesn’t matter to the company in any case.

So why cheer for a company like that? Why support them?

So @MisterPenguin this isn't an expansion of Magic Kingdom beyond its current boundaries.

We don't know the boundaries of Villains Land yet.

The acreage that was announced for Cars and Villains is the same as RoA and all the wetland confined by the railroad. So, it's likely within the RR berm.

Altho, it doesn't have to be. They could go over or under the RR or change it's track. We just don't know for sure. None of our reliable insiders have indicated the footprint.

The permit for the laydown yards was specifically for laydown yards, not for entertainment or mixed use. Altho, that could be changed at any time with a new permit request.

The Frontierland time period debate is very stale and repetitive. Just like all the other lands, there is no “set” time period for the land- instead, it’s designed around the growth of America’s frontier, not the Wild West (Big Thunder Mountain also takes place in the late 1800s in the Gold Rush so the 1780 thing or whatever is completely untrue).

Each area of Frontierland contains an almost fantastical interpretation of its real life American historical counterparts, from singing bears to ghost trains and whatnot. Cars actually expands on the concept perfectly, showing the National Parks era of America, where rally racing was a real thing even in the past. If you notice the map time in the land goes forward in a clockwise direction, with each area building further than before- all going further “west.”

It might not be intentional, but seeing it in this perspective actually shows how interesting the new Cars area will be and add to Frontierland’s story.

The Mexican Cession has to be one of my favourite historical euphemisms!

I'm in both. I'm a fan and can acknowledge that Disney has made quite a few missteps in the past several years which were noticed by the media.

Disney certainly isn't what it used to be, parks movies etc.

Best news is, there’s a wonderful ROA to visit at Disneyland, with two magnificent ships, canoes, and a gorgeously redone back section.

Just ignore the current state of TSI…

A brief rant on the second to last day:

1. Tom Sawyer Island is worse the busier it is. Especially the caves; they completely lose their atmosphere when there are other people in there with you. From exploring the unknown to just a walking tour. I feel bad for people who are only going on now when it's packed; they missed out.

2. People who whip out their phone flashlight when in the caves are completely missing the whole point, removing what makes it interesting, and ruin it for anyone they go near. They are symbolic of everything wrong with modern Disney-goers and the amount of people I see doing it is sad. I've also never seen someone take out their phone to get a closer look at anything, only to illuminate the whole thing while they breeze through it, which says even more about the terrible mindset.

Love this shot, beautiful...I still can't see how they are going to blend the Mansion into the new area visually. Its going to just be out of place sitting on the side of a national park/desert with a berm of trees around it? The concept art has shown nothing, and they have stated nothing in the previous damage control statements.

WDW is an excellent vacation venue for my multi-generational family. There is something for everyone; one group can go to a water park while another visits a theme park and we can meet up for dinner and the evening. DS has a lot of fun entertainment. And it’s all in one spot with a transportation system so no need to constantly drive around.

I don’t care about the company so I have no idea why you think I’m cheering for it.

Nothing at all odd about that, but this obviously through your lens and those of your brethren. Witness the general traffic going around those rivers in MK, are they stopping and gazing at that space or taking the raft over (excluding this week), that tells a story. The company has multiple generations to cater to. There is already the OG that ain’t goin anywhere a domestic plane ride away.
