what even is the debate here
The debate is that MV3D closed early simply as a cost cut initiative. As Disney wouldn’t have to pay operating costs to the staff to run the show.

I honestly think it’s more nuance than that for both sides.

I tend to think that Grand Avenue was closed because it’s going to be a construction zone soon and too dangerous for nearby guests. I find it curious they closed the whole land and I am interested on the pace and progress of the construction.

Most people here think the Grand Avenue makeover could be completed in a year or less and most of the work is going to be done beyond the berm so they could have had MV3D run for longer run before closing it down.

I wouldn’t expect the show to open before the coaster based on what happened with Galaxy’s Edge.

They opened Galaxy’s Edge without Rise and it was kind of a letdown. I think the VQ for the land was done before the end of the day. I imagine it would’ve been more well received if the premier attraction had been there from Day 1. The VQ for Rise was crazy; people lined up at 5:00am or earlier to get one.

I don’t expect the door coaster to be as good as Rise but I think the same thing will apply. Assuming the coaster is a hit, they can get by with whatever the show is and people won’t care as much. If they stagger it, it puts the show on display.

It’s more than just that. Disney doesn’t have to pay cast to run muppets. Or cast at pizzarizo. Or servers, seaters, and kitchen staff at Mama Melrose. Or custodial cast to staff and clean the land and its two restrooms. Or leaders and coordinators for any of those locations. Or maintenance cast to work on the show, facilities, and equiptment in the theater, restaurant, and around the land. They don’t have to pay horticulture to replace flowers or trim trees. They don’t have to pay painters to touch up wear and tear. Or third shift to vacuum, high dust, or power wash. They don’t have to pay for replacement glasses, equipment or parts. They don’t even have to pay to AC those facilities or run the fountain. The list goes on.

To put it simply, they feel that Disney is destroying their childhood.
That’s not what is being discussed here at all - I’m not sure what you were replying to or why?

Kind of? I flew out to California after reserving a “preview” of galaxies edge. letdown isn’t even the word.

Can't tell if it's been mentioned with so many new posts, but Bioreconstruct noticed a yellow line in the parking lot showing the outline of the new building. It's hard to make out so I drew over it to make it clear:

The replacement for Muppets will open in quarter ———— of —————.

Please fill in the blank. No conversation needed, just two numbers. I don’t even need a month, just a quarter is fine.

I think the simplest line in the sand for @mattpeto's hypothesis to hold up: the courtyard really should open before or by the time Tropical America's does. Considering Dinoland at large still isn't closed, that would be generous.

For the record, I too think they are slow rolling it and the whole thing opens together in ~Q2 (fiscal ~Q3) 2028.

That’s VERY generous, since the Zootopia conversion took less than a year.

I'm hoping whatever they do to the MV3D theater is more in depth than converting TTBAB to Zootopia. Remember, there they pretty much have one room to retheme, here they have an entire land and could completely redo the exterior if they want
