Stumbled on an old touring plans article about the launch of MDE and FP+ and thought the original tier list was really interesting:

Group 1 (Choose 2 experiences)

  • The Barnstormer
  • Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade
  • Dumbo
  • Haunted Mansion
  • Jungle Cruise
  • The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
  • Mickey’s Philharmagic
  • Town Square Theater: Meet Mickey and Minnie
Group 2 (Chose 2 experiences)

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin
  • Main Street Electrical Parade
  • Peter Pan’s Flight
  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain
  • Town Square Theater: Meet the Disney Princesses
  • Wishes Nighttime Spectacular

100% agree, but interesting that Jungle cruise has moved up in the world. While buzz and haunted mansion have fallen.
Probably due to capacity over popularity. Both omnimovers play a strong role in providing ample availability that Jungle Cruise simply cannot provide due to lower hourly capacity.

Which is why omnimovers should not have skip the line (along with other attractions) (aside from making more profit)
But aren’t higher capacity attractions more able to allocate hundreds of GC to skip-the-line?

Whereas giving hundreds of GC for JC FP means even moderate demand produces an exorbitant wait.

They’re designed to not need them. They removed legacy FP from Haunted Mansion after installing it. TSM runs more efficiently without pay to skip (WDI fought it but ops pushed for it)

Of course that would mean less profit.

The day Mermaid opened it was standby only and was a joy in a steadily moving line.

The company knows all about the bad press pay to skip is getting. Ratios were altered last year but it’s all spreadsheet and pencil pushing led.

I think what I’m asking is whether you think it’s better to offer fast pass for low capacity attractions or fast pass for high capacity attractions.

High capacity attractions run the risk of starvation, especially at the start and end of day, so fast pass guides people to those attractions.

Low capacity attractions tend to have higher waits and more sustained demandz

This makes two things true, fast passes have more value at low capacity attractions because you’re skipping more line.

The impact to wait time from fast pass is higher for low capacity attractions.

So you’ve seen against fastpass, so I’m confused why you’d prefer fastpass on lower capacity attractions (which has a greater impact).

I'm really curious, how does TSM run more efficiently without skip the line? How does it affect seats filled or dispatch times?

I believe there was a successful push to eliminate the second LL scan at TSM because it was causing delays with people having to both scan at that point and pick up their glasses. I can’t remember where I read it but it was causing vehicles to be sent out empty. And I’ve been there and know they never use the second touchpoint there anymore.
