Why? Is it not making money?I wonder if they regret the placement of the Coke stand.

Yeah I agree, but Disney has to do something with the beyond AC space at some point. Launch Bay and a bunch of aging office spaces/warehouses can't be the future they envision for that side of the park.Let's be honest, Animation Courtyard was a LONGGGG shot compared to Muppets. It's an absolute lay up decision.
1. They would presumably have to build a new office building in order to replace this one in some way. (As far as I know they also rent this particular building out to other people sometimes so I'm sure they like the money generated by having an office IN a theme park.
2. They would have to tear down everything, figure out what to do with Little Mermaid. Then remake/completlely fabricate new buildings/facades.
3. They would have to install new kitchens and food services/plumbing in many of these new buildings.
4. Makes another giant awkward dead end in a park with too many already.
5. tbh the area is genuinely way too big for monsters as it is. Having a massive town square the size of Animation Courtyard would look kinda weird. Plus it takes up an expansion plot that could have even more appeal.
The sad truth is, people weren't visting the Muppets enough, while it is super important culturally, it is not very popular. I adore the Muppets but with all of that, it's not hard to see why Muppets Courtyard was the thing to go. My hope is they do turn either M.I.L.F or Sunset Showcase into a new Muppetvision 3D but again this would end up FAR cheaper and imo be a much better end for the Muppets anyway than building Monsters in AC
They need to replace Launch Bay sooner or later. Even if it’s just a single attraction. That entire area has been wasted space for 10 years now. Utterly ridiculous.

Cars 2 was the peak, with the highest grossing world wide box office in 2011. Cars 3 and Planes failed to maintain that popularity and stumbled significantly, not capturing the audience that the first to movies in the franchise attracted.Cars was one of the all time most profitable movie franchises so it makes sense they they keep banking on it.
Iger has talked about a greater Moana presence at the parks. I wonder if that could be something they are eyeing for AC. It gives DHS a much needed water ride and you could bring the Shanghai pirates tech to WDW.Oh I agree they do, but I do think they are waiting for the right opportunity with such prime real estate, replacing it too hasty is a bad idea because they could inadvertently block off some prime real estate right behind it which I believe to fit 2 full-scaled lands if they play their cards right.
It would pair well enough with Little Mermaid and it is animated.Iger has talked about a greater Moana presence at the parks. I wonder if that could be something they are eyeing for AC. It gives DHS a much needed water ride and you could bring the Shanghai pirates tech to WDW.
Cars merchandising sales are HUGE. As in it’s one of the most profitable franchises ever and beats out some SUPER popular mainstays like even the looney toons. For how long it’s been a franchise, that’s insane.Cars 2 was the peak, with the highest grossing world wide box office in 2011. The last film was released in 2017 and was the low point of the franchise. If there were a desire to capitalize on the popularity of franchise, a company like Disney which has been hellbent on pumping out sequels would have already had Cars 4 in the works. 8 years later and still nothing.
The same can be said about Monsters with nothing theatrically being developed since Monsters U in 2013.
I'm sure they all have their fans, but they are some of the weaker IP to headline entire lands in two separate parks that are presumably going to be around for the next couple of decades.
Without looking at Google Earth or anything, would it have been possible to extend more horizontally? Basically, have the walkway follow the backroad instead of going perpendicular. Then you could link up into Star Wars land, and now you have a loop.

My understanding is that SWGE at DLR is struggling compared to DHS. IP based lands are weird like that.I'd add, when Carsland was first announced for DCA, many were saying "The IP is lame" ... yet it's packed to this day and a FANTASTIC land.
Not saying that is what will happen at MK, but IP matters less than a beautiful land and fantastic rides. If those things are right, people will move on from the IP choice, eventually.
Because DLR is a locals destination, you need to keep things fresh more frequently. This is why Avengers Campus has an edge. Hopefully future lands that will come with DLForward will be more modular and catch all in theme. My understanding is that SWGE at DLR is struggling compared to DHS. I feel like this line of thinking of just theatrical releases mattering doesn’t work. Cars is one of the more profitable IPs on merch alone. Carsland is arguably the most popular land at DCA. Cars and Monsters had shows recently, and have had a park presence since they have come out.Cars 2 was the peak, with the highest grossing world wide box office in 2011. There is also sooo much more to do at DL and DCA (its basically one giant park) compared to DHS.Because DLR is a locals destination, you need to keep things fresh more frequently. This is why Avengers Campus has an edge. Hopefully future lands that will come with DLForward will be more modular and catch all in theme.
oh noes! someone is violating (checks notes) the relatively fluid “rules” of the very nascent practice of single-IP lands!rules governing the use of single IP-based lands.
I know some big numbers were bandied about in the early 2010’s, but do you have any recent numbers showing it’s still a merchandising juggernaut?Cars merchandising sales are HUGE. Doesn’t this project cut off a key point of access to a massive pad that was cleared for SWL before that project was moved? If only Hollywood studios had a gigantic underutilized parking lot to permit expansion.
Oh well, I’ll just wait for WDI to tell me how wonderful they are telling stories and other slop on TikTok
