DHS MuppetVision 3-D's Future: Potential Disney Park Venues and Vision Pro Immersive Experience

I think I got the third to last show. Five in total today.

Once again, Disney provided crowd control (very, very good crowd control, for what it's worth) while the fans made it a special day. On top of all the amazing creativity on display, being in the theater with so many people who loved that show and wanted to celebrate it was amazing; by the final show we were treating it like it was interactive (e.g. shouting at Kermit to duck when he almost gets hit in the lab). When it ended, a guy in the back shouted that he was so glad to watch it with all of us, and we all cheered.

I can't even highlight everything awesome that happened. All I can say is being in a room full of people mimicking Gonzo's tap dance is a truly one of a kind experience.

I've said before I'm not a general Muppet fan, but I used to tell people I don't go to Hollywood Studios often because "I just see Muppets and leave". This show was hilarious and easily the best thing in the park for non-thrill seekers (even then, it's pretty tough competition).

I'm going to miss it. I have no reason to go to Studios now.
Last month, I soent most of a day in AK but I hopped to HS only to see MV3D for my last time. Well, I grabbed a bad pizza from Pizzerizzo just because.

Theatre will remain intact for at least a couple more days, just not accessible to the public.

Don’t forget, Cast are getting a special ‘last showing’ on the 10th, last I was aware.

When the time does come to clear out the venue, I truly do hope some of the interior sculptures inside the theatre are saved and sent to the Walt Disney Archives.
Those stunning doorway and interior theatre facade decorations need to be preserved.
Some truly beautiful artistry here.
Hopefully perhaps the Henson Studio is also sent one of these…

That is unless it’s been the plan all along behind the scenes. Beginning tomorrow they may very well be putting everything into storage simply to be reused. However, a different theater would naturally make for a different queue and pre-show. Outside of the theater itself which would reuse existing elements I’m not sure I trust modern Disney to create a compelling queue experience

Definitely not. There is a showing for original cast and crew involved in the tenth.

The Henson Lot does have the Kermit figure from the long defunct DCA version. Something tells me Disney would classify the props as worthy of being archived.

The Rock 'n Rollercoaster reskin says so much about how the higher ups view their IP.

Muppet Vision, setting aside anything about being Henson's last work, gives times for a bunch of these characters to shine. You like Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Sam, Rizzo, Honeydew, Beaker, Scooter, Sweetums, or Bean? All of them get time to show their personalities and let you enjoy them. Some more than others, admittedly, but there's a whole twenty five minutes or so to share.

The characters are comedy characters, they're supposed to have time to talk and set up jokes.

A rollercoaster is not going to have that time. Especially not Rock 'n Rollercoaster, which we know has no show scenes. They need to try and cram whatever they can into the preshow, which, unless they alter it a lot, might be a couple minutes long. There's no time to work with. Even if the poster didn't already indicate a bunch of those characters aren't involved, even Henson would struggle with that.

But to the people making these decisions, none of that matters. They don't think you need time to enjoy the characters, they don't know why anyone enjoys them. They expect you to just see them and be happy, like a small child who claps when he sees Mickey on his blanket because he recognizes that.

It is not a worthy replacement, at all, and it's a great example that they don't understand the stuff they own and are trying to make money off of.

That said, if you ask me, Muppets is going to the rollercoaster because a. People will ride any rollercoaster regardless of theme, and b. It lets them do it cheap without really retheming it, potentially with a dash of not needing to worry about conduct of the musicians depending on if they actually include real musicians. Not because they feel it's a good replacement or a good compromise or because they feel it'll be good in general.
Not to mention, Muppets Vision was the last place people got a chance to learn about Bean Bunny. The Jim Henson Company and Disney has ignored that character for a long time.

It’s great they had a poorly-voiced “Kermit and Friends WILL RETURN to another attraction” posted yesterday, but did Disney give follow up to this- (the core point of this thread):

"As we move forward with these changes, we are having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience for fans to enjoy in the future."

Are they still having “creative conversations” over this? They’ve had almost a year - no mention of the future of this attraction, in physical or virtual/digital form?

They said they're filming it.

They got a bunch of people worked up over thinking it'll be legitimately preserved somehow and the end result is going to be essentially an official version of the YouTube videos of it that already exist.

Confirming wristbands are gone, they went almost immediately at 830. Bummed, but very VERY glad disney finally did it for a closing attraction. Hoping they do it for all future closures.
How did the final show wristband distribution work?

Did they have a dedicated "last showing of the night" queue? Did they just ask people who were there at 8am if they also wanted to do the last show of the evening?

They had a CM out front at a table with a sign saying return at 10pm for the final showing and a roped off queue for it and passed out wristbands and when they were gone, they were gone
