That may be why this is just a 6,000 car garage and not using up the entire block. 10 years from now might be time to build Phase 2 in conjunction with whatever they do in that lower

I just hope that really soon they’ll show off more info about the avengers infinity defense ride. I understand they aren’t going to show everything about the ride; but it’s kinda annoying that we barely got any info on it, meanwhile they showed off tons for the wdw stuff like the monsters inc load station, etc.

I think the main thing that makes it harder to be patient, is that we have been waiting for the avengers e ticket ride since 2019. Yet it’s mid 2025 and we only have small bits and pieces of info on it. Hopefully soon they’ll show off more about it at another event or on a social media post but I doubt it
I would guess we get more information at Destination D23 in August.

That makes an assumption that Disney is in the future going to buy Gardenwalk, I don't think we can make that assumption as they've been offered the property before and have passed on it. So I don't see them really that interested in moving south as part of a "phase 2".

Well, the Toy Story Lot is south. So whether they buy Gardenwalk, or make a deal to Skyline over it, or simply encourage parking garage guests to walk through it, we know Disney plans to have guests head south via that area.

And by choosing to only build in the top half of the available parking space they leave their options open.

How do guests get from TSL now to the Esplanade? They use buses, and those buses will now be going into the new transportation hub that is part of the EGW. So no there isn't a plan for guests to head south, unless the guest specifically wants to walk and not use the bus.

29th - 31st.
Lower hopes now. This sort of thing ticks and tocks at the city of Anaheim's schedule. Like how it was unveiled at a city meeting last night. There may be something, but I don't see it being a priority at a Florida event. Not when they have Cars and Villains to talk about.

Maybe we're talking about different things. We were talking about the possibility of more details on the Avengers Infinity Defense project for Avengers Campus being announced at Destination D23, not anything to do with the EGW project.

Oh, you're right! I wasn't looking closely. I just saw we're in the Disneyland Forward thread, and you said something so I figured I should disagree.

Back to the garage being smaller than needed at 6000 spaces.

Toy Story Parking lot is 5,400

The hotel district has 5,900 parking spots

Cast member parking lots have 4,100

For the eastern gateway project to really free up space for Disneyland forward it should at least have the capacity to replace Toy story and the hotel district.

I really hope this is phase one of two for parking garages in that area.

There is capability for a phase 2, but is unneeded currently. The parking deficit will have been addressed by Pixar Pals and the Eastern Gateway. None of those other parking lots are being utilized this decade.

Hopefully:

Avengers - Summer 2027
Coco - Spring 2028
Avatar - Summer 2029
Disneyland 75th - 2030

Apart from the seasons, your timeframe reads right to me. It wasn’t making sense that the EGW was yet to start. But the Coco move suggests the timelines jostled. It always seemed a bit too optimistic how far Disney was acting like the Pandora project was given development started blankly in 2023.

I think a 2030 major Disneyland project is likely.

Yep, I highly doubt its going to expand beyond what is currently described in this project. As this structure has been essenstially approved since the 90s, as it was part of the original DSRP.

The EGW was never going to replace the entire resort parking as you've described here. The biggest area that will be freed up for future DLF expansion by this new Pumbaa (I assume that is what it'll still be called) structure is the Simba lot. And I assume the CM parking will be part of this new structure as well, as that was part of the original plan.

Again this is only 800 spaces short of the original project so I don't know where you getting the idea that its smaller than "needed".

this would be a best case scenario, I think this is probably more likely

Avengers - Summer 2027
Coco - Spring 2028
new parade or show in Hyperion - Summer 2029
Avatar + Disneyland 75th - 2030

though the chatter that Avatar will be more like a mini-land than a full Pandora would make it easier to accomplish that 2029 opening date

DAK only took slightly over 3 years (Jan 2014-May 2017).

For a very similar infrastructure precursor project, the Rivers of America closed Jan 2016 for a 2019 Galaxies Edge debut.

That said, Fall 2026 start puts it at a disadvantage.

Fall 2026 is when construction starts for the new entry plaza, ie the EGW.

Construction for Avatar "officially" starts when Monsters Inc closes in Spring 2026. So I think a Fall/Winter 2029 opening is possible to coincide with the Avatar 4 opening in December 2029.

Thanks, I got confused and tried to google the answer and edited my post. I had thought Spring. It does seem doable and probably the plan.
