EPCOT Test Track to be reimagined

Hoping for a special event or sneak peek at Test Track for D23 attendees. Looking forward to my first one this year.

Side note, it's interesting the releases on projects in the past 10 days. Disneyland Coco Ride & Avatar mixed with Carsland update announcement. Thought they would save some of that for D23.

Hoping for a parks panel at this point with one announcement. Figment redo.

I actually mostly liked 2.0. The Show Producer, Trevor Bryant even commented on my article on the history and decline of EPCOT.
I think 3.0 is better just on the virtue of getting rid of the stupid canopy outside that should have been removed in 1999.
That’s true, if the new canopy is a sign the new ride should be very good

Well that's not true. It could be called "Water ride with Pirates" and people would find it on a map. There was a time when Imagineering would strive for creative names and signage. The Disney difference is dead. I got it! Let's call it Gear Shop Adventure! Phew, we can check that one off the list. Mission accomplished.

If the Poly Resort can have a gift shop called "BouTIKI" I don't see why an attraction couldn't have a shop name befitting it's theme. 🤯
You said why give anything a name and then posted that it could be called 'Water ride with pirates", that's a name?

I can honestly say that I've never in my 50 years of visiting Disney World ever thought "Wow that's a cool name for a shop and that has improved my enjoyment of my visit". I honestly couldn't even tell you the name of hardly any ride based Disney shops as it's just not something I'm bothered about, the same for Universal too.

Last I’d heard, softs/previews occur in July. This COULD open around Starlight’s premiere. If they want. I don’t know if they’d rather stagger this for marketing purposes, though. I’d want everything done ASAP if I were in charge but I’m not…

I had thought there would be some instrumental WoM music in the queue loop but I haven’t heard anything.

And, of course there are tons of screens. Are we surprised?

Test track is my fav ride so if it has similar futurism vibes as 2.0 i’ll be happy
Slapping Tron neon lights to the ride and then having people hastily "design" their car in 15 seconds (or not at all), wasn't an upgrade from 1.0 unfortunately. 2.0 was cool to look at, but shallow in delivery. I'm interested to see how this was rectified.

Probably not at all, since it sounds like it is heavily screen-based.

Except it's not.

As stated already Mousegear was Disney-related goods.

Mouse = Disney and Gear = goods.

A shop that sells Disney merch.

"Gear Shop" on the otherhand implies nothing or at minimum the manufacturing of gears and sprockets. Though per that (same vein) definition:

Gear = Goods and Shop = Shop?

What the hell kind of creative name is that!? A shop that sells goods. How very clever.

Reversed, same outcome. Or perhaps they're implying that Shop is like a mechanic/autobody shop. Does that work any better? Nope.

They could do better.
"Test Track Gear and Accessories" sounds more like a location selling items related to automobiles.

"We put a couple of Easter eggs to [insert old attraction] in the [insert refurbed ride and/or queue]! Self high five!! Look at us - We're so smart and clever!!!" - Modern WDI

This will be among the things that will be open the next time I'm planning to be in the Orlando area in late 2026. I'm currently planning to... go visit Universal parks instead.

So we just did the same last month. We hadn't been to Uni since 2016 and were waiting for our kids to get tall enough to actually enjoy a visit there and we wouldn't feel short changed. That being said, we are DVC, and did 6 day park hopper, 1 day water park (included with our resort stay), broken up by pool days and a universal day somewhere in the middle of 12 days total.

Quick take. Having DVC and access to military salute ticket discounts are 51% the reason we still go to WDW every 12-24 months. Even with 'free' rooms, and heavily discounted tickets, we still spent $3800 total for the trip. This included 1 big ADR and 1 TSB meal at Cinderella's castle (great food, btw) and SciFi diner, and 1 ridiculously priced dinner at DS at Planet Hollywood. The rest was spent on mobile ordering in the parks and resort meals. BUT, the food at Disney is far better, and far cheaper than the offerings at UNI. We were highly disappointed with food quality and overall options there.

As for UNI overall, we had the opportunity to do previews at EU, but the lady at will call talked us out of it. This was later verified by a family that had went the prior day that said his family spent $600 on EU tickets to ride 3 rides in 10 hours. EU has A LOT of bugs to work out. I'm sure it'll be great in a year or two though.

As for the rest of Uni/Adventure proper, it's still just 'okay'. Buying their fast passes were off the table for the price involved, but we were able to ride most everything we wanted with 15 minute waits, except for Hagrid's (didn't get to ride). Velocicoaster is probably the best extreme coaster I've ridden. We waited 65 minutes for the ride. It was worth it.

The rest of the park is unchanged and ageing. Potter land continues to be the best thing there and the only land that was packed. Forbidden Journey was walk on all day and needs a LOT of love though. I have no doubt that EU will be a hit once it hits its stride, but WDW has absolutely nothing to worry about in regards to immersion and offerings. WDW just really needs to focus on upkeep of their stuff better. Avatar FoP screens were fuzzy and hard to see, and Soarin desperately needs new projectors, and many rides were operating in some sort of B mode.

Indeed. Still lacks thematic integration and any emotional connection or character. Only marginally better. Needs something to make it memorable. Perhaps more importantly or most surprising... It was a chance for GM to add branding opportunities. The "Gear Shop" name however is insanely generic. About as disposable as a used air filter. This is only marginally better. Functional but forgettable. As said, Disney doesn't have much faith in it either. Had they, it wouldn't be presented as an afterthought and instead would have been a purpose-built, themed sign. Name and style. Lacks both.

Moving on.
