MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

I just don't know what they'd be able to build in the space of the speedway if it's not going to be a ground level attraction.

A big show building wouldn't fit in there.

Haunted mansion in the space taken up by the Speedway.

Not sure either. I suppose they could expand Fantasyland southward. Ignore "Be Our Guest" in this photo from Bing. 🤷‍♂️

I don't think the Guardians show build look good where it is.

My point was that there is a lot of space there so they could put a pretty significant attraction, but it would have the be themed all the way around.

I don't thing the Guardians gravity building is a big issue.

That being said, any building here would be surrounded by 70%+? by attractions and would have a backdrop of Tron's canopy.

How about this? Build a new show building for Star Tours which is located in Tomorrowland in multiple Disney parks. Then retheme Star Tours to Marvel in HS. That satisfies the quirk of having "Star Wars" outside of Galaxy's Edge, finally converting Star Tours in HS to Marvel and retaining Star Tours in MK. And since the MK building for Star Tours would already be Tomorrowland themed, a large building right there wouldn't look out of place.

Here's ST from Disneyland turned around and with the entrance facing Starlight Cafe.

Really puts it into perspective. Could put like 6 spinners on that spot and then some. Good Lord! So much potential, wasted.

That might be the better direction than one big attraction with a big show building - a collection of smaller attractions or maybe like one small one, one M&G area, one play area, etc. ... things that fit the theme of the area but aimed at kids too small/scared to ride Tron and Space

A better driving attraction, I think. TS is beloved and boring. Kids like driving cars, but they can't handle accelerating effectively on hills, but self-driving technology would now allow some "assistance" so the terrain could be more interesting (the car -- which would now be electric -- would handle the accelerating/braking for hills). This would be more visually interesting, both for riders and spectators. Disney spends $300 million on new attractions, yet they can buy 150 off-the-lot self-driving cars for under $10 M (supposedly TS has 146 cars). So they could partner with any of the companies on this ride tech.

The theme? A fantastical alien planet, and the vehicles would be planetary rovers. Race cars look not-cool chugging around slowly, but planetary rovers, going up and down over cool terrain, would look great. Plus it allows a cool rockwork landscape and spectacular scenic lighting framing TRON and Space Mountain buildings.

Here's the "recipe" I can see:

I like this but would want an expansion on the concept to be a land comprised of multiple attractions. Add an alien zoo and some type of "on the water" based attraction and you get my vote.

Yikes! the Cars thread sure has taken a detour hasn't it?

Well, Cars "drove" this discussion. They're he**bent on building Piston Peak with Cars, so lets do something else with the Tomorrowland Speedway area.

Bingo. A family-friendly, imaginative alien planet mini-land with a new planetary rover driving attraction, interweaving with a boat attraction (a bit similar to Storybook Land Canal Boats and Casey Jr. at Disneyland), maybe also a spinner, plus a walk-through interactive experience (Jungle Cruise meets Moana: Journey of Water) where you see "wild" creatures and maybe it has a "game" element similar to Super Nintendo World at Epic.

Partially…. This is completely counter to the thinking of the design of the WDW resort. The resort was planned to have large portions “underutilized” - Disneyland is the opposite with attractions literally on top of each other.
I don't agree - the idea of correcting the capacity and flow of the park for higher volumes didn't mean keeping deadwood. The very notion of having a high capacity park means having all your parts working working as they should.

Is there evidence of this other than the app-listed wait times? Are there pictures/videos of Tom Sawyer Island as a ghost town? An empty steamboat circling TSI? Who says it isn't working?
Yes, only people visiting it for the last 15+ years and listening to people's own tellings of how they don't visit it.

Right...unless you're adding LL profits, which they would be.
Adding LL without adding new overhead is still better than adding LL WITH adding overhead. Revenue isn't expenses. LL doesn't change the basic premise that expansion increases daily OpEx.

Both of you are acting like this is Theme Park Design 101, but it doesn't have to be that complicated.
Because you're acting like a fanboi and ignoring basic business practices in your pleas.

I LOVE this.

This needs to actually happen.

( WDI spies, take note! )
