The tone of this big splashy announcement sounds suspiciously like damage control.

Although some of today's details do seem more positive than what was initially revealed, desperately pleading "I swear, it's not as bad as it sounds!" doesn't inspire confidence.

They may be able to slightly minimize the harm done to the overall park experience, but they clearly know it's a bad idea from its very core. That this strain is so clearly visible in the fluffy press release is an indictment of the whole decision-making process.

IF they can pull this off the way it's described and it doesn't get value engineered back down, I might have faith in WDI again. Hiding the attraction and making it look correct from LS/Frontierland is the key here. I am impressed they put this much thought into it and actually went back to the drawing board and added the kinetics of water back into the plans. However, if we're doing this I don't understand why they can't at least dock the Liberty Belle and make it either a walk-on attraction or some sort of shaded snack pavilion.

As long as they blow that whistle every 10 minutes. Maybe they think it would be a sad reminder of having a boat that moved around the river that guests could actually ride? I could see how it could make some sense to not include the docked riverboat initially and then bring it back years later where people will just be happy to see it again.

I never rode the River Boat- guess I never will. Pretty sure this new attraction sounds way better than a boring old River Boat anyway...
I don't think it's fair to look at this like a "this ride" vs "that ride" thing

The Liberty Belle was an absolutely amazing attraction and I always loved going on. It's akin to sitting on the train and going around the park. It had it's purpose and it served it well with amazing things to see along the Rivers of America.

Can't wait for that day in the future when I can walk around this area with the amazing waterfall and lush greens that make it feel like a national park. I truly believe a lot of people will be admitting they were wrong once this opens and we all see it in person.
I sure hope you are right. But, we cannot forget that Disney has failed to deliver on concept art on more than one occasion. As long as it is delivered as pictured, it at least softens the blow to me, although regardless I think it's a shame to lose an all ages attraction for another lightning lane sell generating one.

Someone please tell me they're saving Liberty Belle and doing something with it at WDW.

Personally I think this looks great, and the walking path from big thunder to mansion is well worth all this construction alone. The expanded water features in this concept art are a huge plus to this project, and this can really turn out to be a great addition. I might be in the minority, but I'm glad they're getting started on this sooner than later. Disney has announced way too many projects for shovels to be idle this long, I'm ready to see dirt moving.

I think it's very interesting that the Liberty Belle dock is still visible in this new concept art. With the added river bank and the discussions that they're trying to find a way to keep it, I wouldn't be surprised if the Belle lives on in some capacity. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up docked behind that grey mountain by Tiana's and turned into a meet and greet for her and Naveen.

I get the vibe that no one in the marketing team or imagineering really love this idea but are stuck with it and trying to spin it as positively as possible. It is a shame that at least IMO, lightning lane sales trump everything, and any attraction that won't add to them, and/or isn't IP is sooner or later going to go away.

Disney Fantasy Springs turned out better than the concept art imo.

The people still mad about this are just always mad about everything.
Not really…. I’m down here now and loved the new pyro additions to happily ever after. Being mad that I’m saying goodbye to muppets and the riverboat doesn’t mean I’m mad about everything.
Looks like some elements of TSI are being incorporated. Walking paths, barrel bridge, etc. I wonder if they’ll incorporate any caves or areas for kids to run into.
Yes… I feel less sad about the loss of TSI which makes the fact they are purposely ditching the riverboat all the more upsetting.
