The concept art always looks better than what we get. I wasn't expecting that much of a deviation but if the budget money needed to shift to other portions of the attraction, I'm fine with it but it definitely is a big step down IMO.

Definitely looks like they took inspiration from WoM. Whether thatβs better than the original concept is up to interpretation.

Imagine how upset people would be if they installed a sign that looked exactly like that today.
"Gear" should be at the end to denote it's a shop selling an assortment of goods, no?"Gear". Such a classic word to use for a gift shop. I could have sworn I've seen that elsewhere in Epcot.
Still bad however.
"Gear Shop" implies they manufacture gears.
Why not bring it back to "Inside Track" or something "Garage"? SIMporium wasn't great but it was at least creative.

I don't care about the signs. My hope is they re open sooner rather than later and its running reliably.
My only caveat with the marquee signage is that the silvery post should be capped in a similar polygonal style to tie-in better with the new art direction and logo or just not exist at all, but it's a minor quibble. It's a pretty drastic departure from the concept art but not a deal breaker. I like it. Evokes car dealership signage.

"SIMporium" was a great name for 2.0. But a simulator is no longer the focus. "Test Track Gear and Accessories" might have been a better title. Sounds more like a name to get car stuff.

Follow up. "Shop" is usually used for where you take your car for repairs. "I'm taking my car to the shop."

I really disagree this is worse or 'cheaper' than the original concept. I think it fits the aesthetic of the building and whatever they are now calling Future World than the other version, which looks a lot more in the style of the 1990s-era Future World.
I get the impression that for a lot of Disney fans the bigger, more colourful, and more cluttered something is, the more 'themed' it is.

Wait is this the first time Iβm realizing, is Test Track in the original World of Motion building? It wasnβt a rebuild? Just gutted and put Test Track in?

Hopefully theyβll make the ride more realistic by adding a feature that allows you to experience todayβs GM engine failure.
Sign name doesn't work in this context.
And hopefully better attraction branded merch.
