Those cabins(sheds) will take a lot of maintenance
The main problem is that half way through the 50 years term, they will need to be replaced again. And that isn’t cheap. Plus they will still need a full refurb half way to that point. Way more expensive than the cost of 3 full refurbs of the villas (that is planned to happen every 14-15 years). So the maintenance fees need to include a higher amount for capital expenditure than other DVC resorts.

They don't make pressure treated lumber like they used to due to government regulation change to wood treatment. Pressure treated lumber these days will last 5-8 years. My friend had a deck built and within 6 years he had major rot which required replacement. I have 4x4 post from 20 years ago (old wood treatment formula) in the ground still good. Those sheds will require maintenance a lot sooner than later

They’re dumb

If you’re gonna get ripped off anyway…you probably don’t want to be in the campground
I wouldn’t say dumb, there is a reason for it. But it’s affecting sales for sure. Maybe they need to rethink how they finance the replacement cabins to cut the maintenance fees?

Well…the pricing jumped the shark long ago. The more these sell…the more it drives prices up and expectations down. Not sure what bizarro world that is?…but unfortunately we don’t have another one with enough oxygen in the atmosphere 🤷🏻

At this point I feel like Disneyland Hotel seems to be the best looking DVC option lately. I thought about it but renting DVC has done me wonders so far.
You have to pay the transient tax on any stay there (it's not a tiny amount per night, either). Makes it far less attractive. Kind of like the FW cabin maintenance fees...

Do they ever pause DVC construction?

They cancel, change, scope cut theme park construction, even regular hotel construction, but I never heard of them pausing DVC construction?
Apparently you’re not familiar with Reflections a Disney lakeside lodge, or Disney’s Eagle Pines Resort, or Disney’s California Coast Resort, or Disney Vacation Club West, or the rest of Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, or Disney’s White Mountain Lodge, or Disney’s Newport Coast Villas, or Disney’s Times Square Villas, or the planned resort at National Harbor.

Among others, like Paris, Tokyo, and many, many more...
