MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It is all just becoming a thematic mess...
Agreed. I’m hoping this is addressed with the cars attraction and not made worse. I think the artwork we’ve seen was somewhat rushed (with no details on the 2nd attraction that seems likely) - that’s why I still have a sliver of hope for the riverboat.

Even without the riverboat I hope they attempt to tie this all together somehow and not just plop some rocks down and say “look more stuff!”

Agree, but worried with the path they have been on in projects. My hope is the complaints have not been ignored and better attempts to tie together will be made, they sure didn't try with tiana. So now its a mess on top of a mess. Still concerned how all this is going to look and sound from the Haunted Mansion. I really hope that initial rushed one piece of concept art has been retooled and redesigned or something, its all been hush hush with no updates.

Please, not until after July. I can't take another construction wall going up before my trip with my family.
Think of them not as construction walls, but Magic® barriers. There is so much Magic® being built behind those walls that our valued Disney guests could not handle all of it if the barriers weren't there. You would be getting kicked in the teeth by Magic® without those barriers. When the barriers come down, the Magic® is ready and yours to enjoy! For our valued guests who would love to get a sneak preview of the Magic® behind the barriers, we have viewing windows that can be booked for $59.99 per person on the Disney app.

Well with Cars area and Big Thunder as the only piece of Frontierland, Tiana makes literally no sense in it's current location either...they have added nothing to support that you are now in Louisiana...considering you just went by some old Western buildings...The Splash red clay rockwork blended a little better with the red rocks of Big Thunder... It is all just becoming a thematic mess...

To me, the most effective way to mostly fix this would be to:

1. Make Cars and Big Thunder the official Frontierland with the land's new borders being the very edge of Cars on both the Liberty Square side and the former waterfront side, and create a hard physical border out of rock work or something to somewhat isolate it to itself.

2. Turn that waterfront (where Tall Tale Cafe) is into a New Orleans themed corridor that leads down to TBA. You could even leave a little bit of the former river up front, park the Liberty Belle there (maybe even turn it into a Tiana M&G location), and have rocks on the other side of the water/boat to act as a separation between that corridor and Cars.

3. Leave the pathway by TBA that heads to BTM there, but dress it up a little more to make it be a proper land transition. The train station could still be a part of Frontierland with this arrangement.

This would create an isolated and good sized Frontierland, leave Liberty Square, create a MK version of New Orleans Square (but more like a waterfront corridor), and still allow them to make the land bridge back there.

Of course this option would require them to completely redo the facades along the water front and turn Tall Tale Cafe officially into Tiana's Palace, and I just don't think they're willing to drop the cash on that even if it solves that entire area's thematic clashing.

TBA is set in a bayou backwater. It doesn’t really need a New Orleans corridor to support it, and that wouldn’t transition too well from Country Bears anyway. The Bears are already set in Tennessee, so I honestly think it’d be way easier to convert Pecos to a Hungry Bear equivalent to maintain a visual trip down the Mississippi that becomes progressively more rustic.

I like that idea - let the bears take over that sections with the new “mountains” being the smoky mountains with waterfalls etc.

And then that leads to Tianas which is still “in the south” and then it’s a hard switch to big thunder - which it’s always been thematically - and the more western looking cars theming.

That could work well.

Maybe they will put googly eyes on the mining equipment and train engines at Big Thunder and that could be a better fit for the Cars expansion... Maybe Mater will be towing ore cars out of a mine shaft...all with googly eyes.....Maybe change the stick of dynamite in the goat's mouth to a spark plug... add some new peaks shaped like an air filter or windshield wiper...it will be a perfect fit1!

2 things - the scale of Cinderella castle is way off in my opinion - which is made worse by the tree massacare of the early 2000’s. Anaheim and Paris get the scale and design much better.

But back to the riverboat…. I trust that imagineers are talented enough to design something that would work for the riverboats scale. Since the “River” has always been much more narrow than the actual Mississippi- they can make it work if needed.

But it will likely get scrapped according to insiders - so best case it goes into private hands.
They can pull it out of the park, tow it to the shoreline of Bay Lake, pave a path to it, and open it as a lounge. That way people who are looking for Cars/Villains won't be bothered by the hulking shell of the steamboat as a former attraction.

There are many options for the Liberty Belle. I’m quite certain there were designs that made it past blue sky that included her.

But ultimately…. They may choose something tragic. Time will tell.

I love your armchair imagineering posts, but please use your abilities for good, not for evil! You almost had me convinced, and I had to snap out of it.

Took a different approach with my armchair by first and foremost moving Tiana to Adventureland. But the other retconning and retooling felt more blasphemous than respectful of what came before it. How do you merge such dissonant themes? Does Disney even know? Frontierland is going to be a mess. I don't think it possible without a sacrifice here or there. If they were to give us some small concession, keeping even a sliver of ROA and the Riverboat would be most appreciated.

That was actually my point...Cars does not belong in Frontierland...But cars does fit perfectly at DHS...and without destroying an entire quadrant of the park...

I think it's already happen though. The diminished Old West themes, Tiana, Cars is just another nail in Fronterland's coffin. Jokes aside, googly eyes isn't going to fix that.

That could work.

I thought a New Orleans Sq options would make more sense if you extended it down to Pirates of the Caribbean and had it sort of like at Disneyland - and then TBA is on the outskirts of New Orleans, but could still convert Pecos to a Tiana's restaurant for her downtown location

A natural transition between Pirates and TBA is attainable. Most of the facades could easily be "French Quartered" But I think a Tiana's Palace restaurant should be located in that same vicinity, as a newly built expansion. Preferably, one that could link up with a new TBA entrance. The goal being to have TBA and her restaurant in new swampy NO area of Adventureland.

To do it right however, the parade storage route might need to be altered and the Adventureland/Frontierland entryway would need to be pushed farther out, nearest Pecos. It's a lot of shuffling for a crap attraction, but I think it would work better than having Tiana remain lumped into Frontierland. By doing so, it would potentially give us a bigger and better restaurant space vs a Pecos to Tiana conversion. As an added bonus, if altered, the parade storage depot could be Mardi Gras themed as well. I wonder if such a reimagining is possible, specifically rerouting TBA. Might be difficult. It would be easier to just retheme Pecos - but that's so incredibly lame and negates the goal.

They could create a couple of portal structures to better define the areas... just past the entrance to Grizzly Hall they could have one crossing the broad esplanade to the water defining that area as the New Orleans Riverbend...Save a portion of the ROA, Permanently dock the Liberty Belle with an access bridge on the backside where it would be unseen, and an access bridge from the mountain face/rock wall, whatever is there, so the boat could be used for shows, occasional entertainment... this would also allow the boat to be fully electrified for lighting etc...Keep the paddlewheel turning and put some underwater jets aimed at the bow to give the impression that the boat is breaking water..... The Tall Tale Cafe becomes a proper Tiana's Palace, a second portal crossing the path between TBA and Big Thunder to delineate the new area of Carsland Frontier presented by Pixar... Add googly eyes to the trains at Big Thunder and some light additional theming to make it fir the Carsland world... The portals between the lands are the key... Impressive scale and beautifully designed to carry the change in area without a written paragraph of text to tell you that you are no longer in Liberty Square, but are now entering New Orleans Riverbend....or Carsland Frontier...
