Anyone else have any plans for the Memorial Day weekend? I'll be watching a small local parade, and an acknowledgement ceremony of military veterans (living and deceased) at our city common.

Traditional events aside, I'll cook up some burgers and hot dogs on the Weber charcoal grill outside. (It's well enough away from any building structures, so no chance I'll set the neighborhood on fire!) :p

Lots of outdoor chores to do. Grilling hotdogs. Mid to low 70s except Monday rain.

Visiting friends in Oviedo and of course watching who drinks the milk this year! Our son in law's family has had tickets for over 50 years so our daughter gets to go. Miss this guy singing...

I don't think the weather quite knows summer is almost here. Says it supposed to be 49 for a high on Thursday.
My area is in the middle of 3 straight days of temps being under 50 degrees as a high. It doesn't look like its going to reach 60 degrees on Memorial day.

Also there is an area in Wisconsin that was even colder with it being only 41 degrees as a high back on Saturday.

I probably will do my laundry. The only person that has passed here in NC, is my Ex-wife. I also have to get ready because on Thursday, the 5th of June, I'm flying to Vermont and after one day, my sister and I are driving to Maine. It depresses people when I say it, but it will probably be the last trip to Wells Beach I'll be able to make. But, who knows. A couple years ago I made a road trip to Vermont to see some old friends, while there I mentioned that I had decided to go there because at my age, I could easily be the last trip I might physically be able to make. And here I am going back. Sadly, the one person I told that too, unexpectedly passed away less than a month ago. And she was 9 years younger than me. George Wendt was 3 months younger then myself, so a little reality thinking might be the wise thing to do. I'm not saying it is going to happen, I'm just saying that the odds are starting to not go my way.

The other day I was out shopping for a new mattress. I looked around and the sales lady came up and talked to me. I told her that I brought my old mattress about 14 years ago and it was due to be retired to that big Mattress place in the sky. The first thing she did was show me a $2500.00 one that was a good deal because it was rated to last 30 years. I just chuckled and said, I'll be 77 in July so you want me to plan to live to 107 years old. Man, I must be looking good which means my home mirrors are damn liars.

We are pretty much the same up here in my part of Wisc. Luckily we didn't get any frost like a little further northwest of me. My plants might have been toast then.

Ah, that explains why when I went to Walmart today there was a guy whose job was to take hundreds of Cucumbers off the display tables and putting them in plastic boxes.
