Disneyland 70th Anniversary Thread - Wishlist, Rumors, Speculation, Announcements

I honestly don’t feel that way based on what I’ve seen.

Also Covid ruined a lot of stuff for the 50th so I think it’s a horrible comparison.

DL has a ton of anniversaries to choose from so why not choose those to spot differences ?

Well I knew it was never going to be a 50th or 60th celebration, so comparing to every anniversary between the 50th, 60th, and now… this is the best “not as important date” anniversary showing I’ve witnessed.

Honestly, I am pleased. This feels grander than MK’s 50th.

That's about like saying a used 1974 Ford Pinto feels grander than the neighbor kid's old Schwinn bike.

Hey Disneyland fans, we shafted those dumb East Coasters for their 50th, but look what we got you for our 70th!!!

The Frontierland wagon spot is pretty neat.

Crazy she still has a platform after getting a DTD Starbucks employee fired over her rude behavior.

I did the experience opening day (I imagine I was among the first folks to finish since I encountered no lines at the key stations) and it was pretty fun! Very repetitive though. The wagon spot is the only really cool spot IMO because it's the most like the Universal wand locations where something happens within the environment. I wish more of the effects were integrated into the surroundings (e.g. the fighter jet flashed lights or let out steam, a window in NOS lit up with the silhouette of a saxophonist, the entire Mickey flowerbed sparkled with lights).

On another note, I'm curious if the key would work as a wand at Universal? The end of the key looks like it could also be an infrared reflector, but I'm not sure.

Yes the Key thing looks really repetitive so we’ll probably pass but I think I’ll finally give in and buy one Magic Band for my son. Those little Fantasyland windows did the trick. Very charming. And at least the magic band serves multiple purposes. I do like the sound effects on that key though. Years ago on these boards and Micechat I complained about how none of the merch showcased the sounds of Disneyland. A lot has changed since then.

Ive been finding myself drawn to R2D2 merch the last few years and I’m kind of digging these 70th versions. I’m liking the color scheme. Maybe it reminds me of the Lakers. I’ll probably just settle for the action figure though.

From what I recall, the employee stitched a TikTok of the mom where she was talking about being kind to CMs and shared a story of how rude and impatient the mom was while waiting for her drink/generally acting like a Karen. The mom responded with an apology video online, but then a few days later the employee was fired after the Karen reported her videos to corporate and complained about her. The mom turned off her comments shortly after reporting (but I guess the Internet forgets since she apparently still has a platform lol).

Not condoning the initial video response by the employee because the social media policies are typically pretty iron clad even as an operating participant, but very hypocritical of the mom in my opinion.

I was curious so I did some digging.

And this one-

And this -

I have 0 interest in the Disney 'influencer' community and am usually put off by their content as it all just seems so self-aggrandizing. But every major company has strict social media policies for CM's, so the CM should not have published a video.

These are the pins that come with that $60 key. Just one of them. Somehow, people have already completed a collection. I’m guessing through trading older pins or buying more than one key and trading duplicates. Anyway, just posting this to say the hunny pot feels like an odd choice no? Amongst all the other icons? I’d be pi$$ed if I spent $60 bucks and got the hunny pot. They probably feel Tiana is too new or perhaps don’t want to turn off potential collectors/ customers. Why not a Country Bear?

Wait -- $60 and you don't get to choose your pin?? But you get to choose your prize for the $10 Halloween and Easter hunts?

I was more mad when I bought 3 keys and pulled 3 of Mickey's houses. 😂
