MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Cinderella castle is just scenery-nothing to really experience there, other than a restaurant. According to your logic, why not rip it out and put something there to add capacity? An important part of a THEME park vs an amusement park is the theming, which is significantly driven by scenery….

Sleeping Beauty’s castle in DL doesn’t even have a restaurant, thus it makes $0 - guess we should rip it out & replace it with a building housing a money making ride.

Cars Land is the best attraction in DCA.

Even if the revenue from the shops and eateries in that land don't make a ton of money on their own, the existence of the land is probably a large driver in park attendance, which is important in and of itself.

I think people are taking the success of Cars Land and extrapolating what it did to DCA to believe any Cars attraction or land would be an equal success at another Disney park. We know that's not the case with the two Cars rides at Disney Studios Paris, but even if the two at Magic Kingdom are not as bad, Magic Kingdom is already the most visited theme park in the world and this Cars addition won't have as large a focus on retail/dining.

It comes down to the belief that new rides sell LL and merch. I think that varies based on what's ultimately built.

Cosmic Rewind benefits from being the only coaster in that park, Tron the most intense in MK.

This Cars ride may be the breakout family hit that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is, or maybe it won't. That's the risk they're taking.

The Radiator Springs Racers ride is the best ride in CA, if you can get on it. However, the ‘land’ you must traverse to get to the ride is uninspiring IMO & an area I’d avoid if I didn’t have to walk down that pavement to get from Maters to RSR. It sort of reminds me of the Dinosaur area of AK likely because both feature pavement so prominently.
Fortunately for the aesthetic of CA you have a large body of water elsewhere in the park to relieve the tedium of the black top. I’m trying to imagine what the soon to be former ROA open vistas will feel like once they are replaced by a Grizzly Flat type peak (except crowned w/ a piston) that you have to navigate around. The new ‘big’ ride at the MK will not be like RSR - they aren’t allocating enough space to achieve that - which is disappointing because RSRs is a great ride.

I mean Snow White's castle can only be found in the dark ride, Sleeping Beauty's on the other hand features the Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough attraction that actually gets taken care of. How many guests pay for photopass to take a photo of the whole family with the castle? The castle still makes money just by being the park icon. Are there any Photopass photographers even near WDW's RoA? I can only think of Haunted Mansion's and that's not facing the river

I hope they are not using Cars to get rid of TSI and ROA because if it was say only announcement for Villains then people would say Villains is built in the back and having some river or some parts with the boat would make a cool path from Haunted Mansion to it!

Oops, I should know which castle is in DL - that’s the park I grew up going to & is by far the closer & thus cheaper option for a Disney fix but alas, my princess days are a distant memory.

I would disagree about Radiator Springs... We agree the ride is fantastic...it really is, but the rest of that land is equally beautiful and very well done... Multiple QS locations, multiple well themed shops... Two smaller attractions...and it looks just like the setting for the first movie...Instantly recognizable, gorgeously done... Yes there is a lot of pavement, but it is a match to the film location as it should be....in a world where Cars are alive, they would need pavement to move around and all....lol

be careful what you wish for...once they commence it is going to be a mess for 3 years minimum but probably a lot longer to full completion...and of course, forever changing the style and charm of the Magic Kingdom....

Construction impacts do happen when major construction is done.

Yes, it will also change the MK and will become a part of ‘new’ charm and tradition for decades to come.

There once was a period of time when a Moana water ride was rumored to be announced as a true expansion of Adventureland. Since Disney has yet to spend all of the monies allocated to the parks, and specifically WDW, would a ride expansion like this potentially incorporate water beyond what would be needed for a ride.

Adventureland already has water around the Swiss Family Tree House, as well as the water in Jungle Cruise and in the Pirates ride. Recalling @PREMiERdrum speaking about this, a pathway would run alongside Pirates and back to an expansion pad. This is where the Moana ride could go. Could more water be added from an aesthetics point of view? Almost making this a Moana mini-land? Maybe adding a water area around the ride was a possibility? I know that I know nothing beyond rumor. And as every Disney downer will tell me they never do phase 2, yada yada. And I’m certain @Disstevefan1 will tell me if they start in a few years or might be done in about 15 years lol. Technically a Moana expansion to Adventureland wouldn’t be a phase 2.

Just a completely separate project to what’s already happening to the MK.

I'd look at the Tokyo Disneyland recent art work as inspiration on what they would probably do to add a Moana log flume ride:

Kill Jungle Cruise.

They don't jump at expansion pads easily unfortunately.

OLC is paying for anything they get over there and also we already discussed what’s popular here might not be popular over there.

While I don't think they're going to eliminate the Jungle Cruise, they could definitely make significantly more money on that plot of land if they replaced it.

A new E ticket would generate ILL sales (and would probably have lower operating costs by requiring fewer CMs), and they'd also be able to add dining and shopping.
