It was pretty lazy at the time

So if the little guys blow it up…ya double down?

That being said…I think their intent was to just make a more professional looking upgrade of ANH…when the process didn’t allow it…

A lot of that stuff…just speaking from my memory…blew our minds on a new level

The reactor chase just made up for the lame trench run (but I’m harsh)

And when she blew…I think the common sentiment from the audience was they’ve never been so happy and sad at the same time…

Never in a million years would you have thought the road would go from there…

Ahhh…memories like the corners of my
Mind
Emperor palpatine had already ordered the construction of the second Death Star before the first one was destroyed.

Finished the PT and my kid really enjoyed it. Now it's a matter of starting the Kenobi series or jumping to ANH. I'm worried ANH will look really old to a 10 year old and he may lose interest
Might want to skip that one. The OT was a trendsetter in spite of ANH after the fact. It blew peoples minds at that time because Hollywood was so primitive prior. But it looked pretty dated by 1984

I would like to see this on Disney+.

What’s funny is…when I read that book

Which for you kids in the crowd I was randomly walking through a Walden books and saw it…cause in the pre Internet days you had to find out about stuff by reading papers 🤪

Anyway I thought there were way too many references to the OT…it was too much copycat

Now if they had released that in 1997 when they should have made it…or even rearranged it for 2015 when they did “sequels”…it might be still in theaters? Would have been the highest grossing movie ever…if anyone had a clue what was coming

…it was basically 9 years. Which seemed like 25 At that time

That and games such as x-wing really were like “going home again”

It’s hard to explain

I think this all depends on how old you were at the time. It was less than 6 years between the 2nd Ewoks movie airing and Heir being published with the laserdisc releases (yes, we had a player) releasing in between. I was pretty much the perfect age for all of that stuff as it came out, and it didn't feel like a terribly long time coming to me.

Then I was older than the “perfect age”…because there was a kinda sadness that set in after Jedi…life moved on…but it never felt quite that same. It was really the time and place culturally…and the OT was indicative of that.

Little did we know of just how off the rails it could go? They made movies to suck on nostalgia 30 years later and completely whiffed

We wanted more films with the OT characters after Jedi. When the books came out, it was the sad realization that was never going to happen. Any chance at more SW from GL was going to be restricted to PT.
