Why would this specifically hurt Disney in the US?I'm not talking about the financing here, its far worse an image problem that will destroy the Americana brand.

Nobody will publicly admit to the Saudi deal being a possibility... Like Singapore.Wait til you hear what Option B was for this project. Maybe that Disneyland will be in a coffee table book in 15 years since it can’t happen now.
I think even this required a planetary alignment. Iger had to return and there needed to be a shift right in America.Nobody will publicly admit to the Saudi deal being a possibility... Like Singapore.
And then they went into mainland China (for various reasons). And here we are.I'm not talking about the financing here, its far worse an image problem that will destroy the Americana brand.
I’m sure it will be a smart deal from a business perspective. I don’t think it’s a smart deal from a moral or reputation perspective.I think even this required a planetary alignment. Iger had to return and there needed to be a shift right in America.
This is definitely the best possible time to close this deal for Disney. We can criticize Bob for a lot, but this is a smart business deal with very low risk to investors.
Another CEO would have done a UAE deal, but I don't think it'd have been a licensing one. I do think we're going to be very surprised at what we find in this park though. Probably not Splash though. But if they did have Splash, even if they literally lifted Tokyo's straight off its foundation and plopped it right into the UAE, it'd be one of the best rides in the country. No joke. Most rides there are... not great!I think even this required a planetary alignment. Iger had to return and there needed to be a shift right in America.

That is Chapek for you.If true the fact that they listened makes me cringe.
I’m more pointing out Chapek was far too risk averse.Another CEO would have done a UAE deal, but I don't think it'd have been a licensing one. This is how I read it. I may not care for some of the laws and rules where they are building this but I don't see how it is much different than what they have already done from a company perspective.I doubt it will. China is more controversial to Americans.
Plus there’s no monetary risk here. China was much more risky. Yet somehow the company persists. This is how I read it. I may not care for some of the laws and rules where they are building it but I don't see how it is much different than what they have already done from a company perspective.

Course they do ! They’re actually considered quite exotic for Europeans.. Like no one out of choice visits any of those gulf states.
I wouldn’t go to UAE but many would…Oh yes absolutely but this is on a far deeper much more dangerous path. Like no one out of choice visits any of those gulf states.
Will this be built though ... doubt it.
Loads do, based on their existing visitor infrastructure. Disney will add even more to the mix. I'm someone who was already considering it for other reasons, but would really consider it if this project actually gets built. Direct flight from MCO helps a ton here.Like no one out of choice visits any of those gulf states.
Some couldn’t go even if some wanted to. Only 46% of Americans have a passport.I wouldn’t go to UAE but many would…
I doubt they will be routinely cutting guests’ hands off. They want the money. Americans vacation in Mexico and the Bahamas even though both are dangerous. How many wealthy Americans gleefully vacation in countries where the drinking water is unsafe?

I didn't expect this. But what on earth does this mean for Bobby's contract that is set to expire in a year?
Heck, we’re getting the Disney Mecca-verse before we get the Disney MetaverseThis park will probably be finished before the planters outside of DL's Tomorrowland.
If this is a disaster, he won't have to deal with it!I didn't expect this. But what on earth does this mean for Bobby's contract that is set to expire in a year?
