MK Stitch's Great Escape Replacement— Don’t Hold Your Breath

So, there's a new video from 3 weeks ago of someone going into one of the exit hallways of Stitch. Did not provide any footage for evidence, but the poster claims that from what they could see, it looked like they are beginning to dismantle one of the theaters. Take that as you will.
I always found it kind of strange that there seemed to be an insistence on using the bones of Alien. First Stitch and then, when that didn’t work, nothing for years. My guess is that they’ve decided to go ahead and just build from relative scratch.

I always found it insane that in the busiest theme park on the world they have an abandoned building in semi prime real estate sitting there vacant for this long and has gotten away with it

It takes years to develop attractions and with the IP mandate we know Disney doesn’t jump on something unless their guaranteed good ROI.
How long has this attraction been closed? Please refresh my memory…

There is absolute NO excuse whatsoever to have any empty buildings or closed attractions with no plan in place. Its unacceptable. Plain and Simple

I think around six years? I remember hearing it went seasonal before COVID, and then once WDW reopened it was gone.

The thing that gets me is that, Stitch is still hugely popular, but he kinda has nothing in the US parks huh? He used to be all over the Polynesian until Moana kicked him out too, I guess the remake is just going to remind Disney how much of a force of nature the blue goober is.

I think if we were still buying individual tickets for attractions, they could claim ROI...but it is just popularity...The Stitch overlay was terrible and not well received.... The original Alien Encounter had an expanded queue that was frequently full and went outside the building towards the hub... I remember waiting in that one....
It was a great scary attraction... Edgy, menacing, and perfect...
I think now it will have to be heavy IP and be a great fit for toddlers... so the possibility that this current leadership could produce something great for that space seems not so high...

I've heard he might move in with the Tiki Birds awhile back, I think we get something with Stitch at WDW announced as soon as Destination D23 if the remake does gangbusters.
Do you think that Destination D23 is going to be substantial or just a placeholder for D23?

The problem with the attraction is that no one bothered to pay attention to the multiple warning signs posted outside the attraction, they just assumed everything Disney has to offer is safe for kids so numerous Parents ignorantly brought their kids aboard the attraction which then proceeded to terrify them.

While an Alien retheme could work, it would have to be significantly toned down or have tightened enforcement for who gets in.
AE was really a perfect attraction for the Tomorrowland they created. I vividly remember passing by that attraction many times and figuring that it was just a filler that didn't need to be experienced. (Not to mention nobody in my group ever wanted to go in there). One night we went in during an "E-ticket night" and I was blown away. I couldn't believe how much that attraction messed with your senses. From that point it became a "must-do." Redo it with updated AA's and a new storyline and affects and it would be a homerun again.

Disney should bring back Alien Encounter.
They really need to get over this fear of scaring the kids of parents too clueless to read layer upon layer of warning signs, as well as video warnings.
They won't do this of course, but I wish they would.

Actually having the staff members at the head of the queue literally suggest not entering with toddlers, babies and those under 10 would have been helpful...Signs won't do it... There were warning signs for Snow White's Scary Adventures and that never stopped parents either.....so in their mind it was just like the witch popping out here and there...no biggee.....
It would be amazing to bring it back in it's absolute original form...all the celebrity voices and actors in place....
Yeah yeah Jeffrey Jones...maybe they could replace that bit of film ....
SIR was voiced by Tim Curry and was so good....
I think the newer generations that never saw it would be amazed and terrified....and would love it!! It would have been perfect at DHS...

Well Disney does own the Alien IP and I think that would make it obvious that the attraction would be scary if they used that. Any way, it was originally planned to be Alien.

And with Uni bringing the monsters, Disney would have something of their own.

If they used the original Xenomorph Alien it would definitely be scarier.... and they could add even more effects with a newly written show. But I start feeling it would better suit DHS....
Yeah! They could even expand on it - build some sort of - I don't know - a dark ride where you go into the movies and see Ripley with her flamethrower and the Xenomorph jumps out at you from different places along the path! What a thing that would be...

But in all seriousness, I'd rather gut the AE theater and build something new than retrofit it with another attempt at an old attraction that - let's face it - was "one and done" for most people. By all means, build an Alien attraction, but put it in the right park.
