MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Cars Land is the best attraction in DCA.

Even if the revenue from the shops and eateries in that land don't make a ton of money on their own, the existence of the land is probably a large driver in park attendance, which is important in and of itself.

I think people are taking the success of Cars Land and extrapolating what it did to DCA to believe any Cars attraction or land would be an equal success at another Disney park. We know that's not the case with the two Cars rides at Disney Studios Paris, but even if the two at Magic Kingdom are not as bad, Magic Kingdom is already the most visited theme park in the world and this Cars addition won't have as large a focus on retail/dining.

It comes down to the belief that new rides sell LL and merch. I think that varies based on what's ultimately built.

Cosmic Rewind benefits from being the only coaster in that park, Tron the most intense in MK.

This Cars ride may be the breakout family hit that Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is, or maybe it won't. That's the risk they're taking.

If it’s a glorified rhino rally, which is what Iger got all giddy about in the recent preview video, I don’t think it will be [a breakout hit]

I would say probably not mater's junkyard because they have the ride system at DHS and its not a great ride system. Maybe, Luigi's rockin roadsters which I think is a fun semi unique kids ride not taking up to much space since the area in the art was small. It could also be a brand new ride. I dont think imagineering even knows yet for sure since they just breezed past it at D23.

If they’re filling in the RoA and keeping the WDWRR, I hope they do something interesting for the railroad. Even the narrator admits, it’s the most beautiful stretch of the railroad.

If they didn't do anything during the last long closure I can't see it as a priority now. Maybe if they could have roving vendors or sell LL or something but it's a money suck as is

During the last long closure though they didn’t touch the scenery. Here, they’re ripping out a massive portion of it. Hopefully they put some thought into the WDWRR. It is very popular and a massive people eater.

I think they are just trying to make the area more "timeless" vs being set in a specific time period. Still that feeling of exploration of the Americas but not in a specific time

Which is similar to the other lands (other than Main St, though even that has a Castle at the end of it as the weenie) - but Adventureland is in the "past" but Jungle Cruise, Carpets, Pirates, would all be different times. And tomorrowland is in the "future" (or retro future) but Mosters, Space Mtn, Carousel of Progress, etc are all at different times.

Let's face it though, in Tomorrowland, Monsters and Carousel Of Progress should really go...and I don't mean demolish the attractions, but relocate them to appropriate areas.... Perhaps an Imagineering pavilion at EPCOT that would combine the One Man's Dream museum but expanded with Carousel of Progress, a complete Tower of the Winds, Small World and an Imagineeering Test Lab type attraction area... It would make an exciting and engaging new area, and save these classic attractions for posterity....while freeing up valuable space in locations they no longer fit.... Small World really should be the preamble to the World Showcase.... and nothing feels more Old Epcot than Carousel Of Progress....maybe along with it's 1964 finale and complete Progress City...followed by new technologies and ideas for future living...

Todays Disney would never relocate Carousel Of Progress. If it closes, its gone. Sad to say its not a matter of if, its a matter of when CoP closes.

I fully expect Disney to relocate Monsters laugh floor to the Muppets theater leaving another closed attraction in Tomorrowland.

When you think about it, having multiple closed attractions in Tomorrowland is a true representation of tomorrow in WDW

Disney doesn't always give significant notice on attraction closures. They could easily just give a date 2 weeks out

And there's a lot of things Disney has not given dates for this summer at WDW.

When it comes to closures, Disney determines how popular they think an attraction is to give fans enough time to say goodbye. There is not pattern unfortunately. Country Bears had 18 days notice. Triceratop Spin had 2 months notice. It's Tough to Be a Bug had 1 month and a half notice. Muppet Vision had 6 months notice
