…tracking looks bad…gonna need some good luck here
I went to see Sinners a second time in theaters last night and it was PACKED. Very unusual for being a Wednesday night, two weeks after release. I checked the Thunderbolts opening night screenings for comparison, and they didn't have nearly as much seats filled up.

Hopefully, if Thunderbolts is as good as the reviews suggest, if will have good legs and be carried by word of mouth.

It’s gonna need long legs

$80 mil NA opening is now firmly in the fail zone…so it will have to be strong into June to get there

This is a very good litmus test of how Disney studios are received now: does a good movie break the funk…as bad and unwanted ones haven’t been able to for the last few year more of less? Of course there are exceptions. Moana 2 was forgettable…and rode the D X factor to big takes

I am not sure if previews are as big as a deal they once were… feels like a different climate now…. I know I have checked locally to gauge how difficult it would be for me to grab tickets on a Sunday….our usually movie going day since we both have off…. And it is never even close to half full…. But come Sunday it is tough to get 2 seats together for some films

**I'm lucky to have 2 drive-in theaters near me, one of which has two screens; and another one not TOO far away that does retro and themed / throwback showings every week.

Very lucky, one of the primary reasons I no longer go to movies is I’m annoyed by the talking, phone lights, etc… I’d love to have a good old fashioned drive in nearby.

We have one but it’s all the way across town, not convenient at all.

I’m not sure…who wants to facilitate…?! 🤔;)

It would probably end up with a lot of folks finding they have more in common than they don’t (I know, probably too diplomatic ;)), and enjoying a lot of chat and drinks together…!!! :)

Meet up at a Disney park and we’d all be too busy running around to find time to argue… a DCL sea day with cocktails may make for more interesting conversation though. I agree that 99% of us would leave as friends though, we all have a huge common denominator that we’re Disney people, our differences would likely be minor compared to our similarities.

Hi gang. While driving yesterday from San Diego to Utah across the great Southwest desert, I lost track of all the billboards for Stitch I saw along I-15. A dozen? My famously accurate TP2000 Popdar (Pop Culture Radar) feels really good about that one.

I didn't see a single Thunderbolts billboard though. And per Variety, Thunderbolts is tracking to a $75 Million opening weekend. Is that good? Probably not if the budget was anything north of $150 Million.

How many billboards have you seen for Minecraft and Sinners?

I do know we’re all in seeming alignment on stitch predictions.

My very adamant predictions about it since I first heard they were making it have zero to do with the movie itself

So you’re going on record that this will rake?

And not this lame “it will make OODLES on D+!” Lying nonsense?
I did not say anything about Thunderbolts ….heck I don’t even know If I will enjoy it or not…. I have not seen it yet…. The reviews sound promising though

Just surprised our resident box office guru has not mentioned anything about the historic non holiday less then 5% drop Sinners had

Sinners is an interesting study

I think it’s mostly eye candy driven…is that crazy?

People think that because the films have made Iron Man an integral part of the zeitgeist he must always have been A list.
He is now.
No one knew who any of the characters were in GotG and I am pretty sure that did more than just ok.
But they had a talking raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper - and a tree guy - plus Chris Pratt, and a retro soundtrack. That was enough for me!
Have you read any reviews?
Nope. My life is not engrossed in movies. I’ve seen the trailers at the theaters a few times.
I'm not a comic book reader so I defer to the experts, but I was well aware of the main MCU people before their movies (Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Cap). Maybe I'm an anomaly but until Guardians, all the MCU movies were centered on characters I could have told you about.
Same. As a kid in the 70’s and 80’s, you knew of them even if you didn’t follow them.
It feels to me like a couple sidekicks are getting together with some people that I'm not sure if I should know or not. It feels haphazard, like filler
That’s how the trailer comes across to me, including one character I actively disliked through most of Captain America 4. Bucky is ok but was never a fave.

I’m not trashing anything; but unlike the Guardians example above, this is less compelling to me from the trailers alone. I’m sure I’ll see it, I always have low to mid expectations of popcorn superhero movies. Their novelty has long worn off, unlike when the original Superman and Batman films came out. But I’ll likely enjoy it. Then again, I was bored to death with Cap 1, and do not understand why Andor is so hyped. It’s the least Star Wars of any Star Wars I’ve ever seen. And what a coincidence: they invented things like martini glasses and club music 🪩 in space.

It is a well written movie with a mixture of genres which has excellent word of mouth….the best reviewed movie of the year so far…also think some that don’t have an interest in horror figured it was not for them…. Went the 2nd weekend as it is not just a schlocky horror movie and could not resistt the great buzz…. I firmly believe Sinners will be remembered in award season despite the April release

So the fact that Jordan and steinfeld are pretty high on the eye candy list doesn’t help?

None for Sinners; with a name like that I'd remember. I don't remember any for Minecraft. At least along I-15 yesterday.

Guru?!? Flattery like that will convince me to buy the second round! 😇

You scared me for a few moments, because I thought I had forgotten a movie from the Disney family of studios. But then I went to Google and found out Sinners is from Warner Bros., so I'm not sure why I'd be expected to comment on a non-Disney movie?
