Large overhaul of Adventureland s being Joined angle Cruise, Tiki Room, Treehouse, etc replaced with, what appears to be an Update themed area and and Incredibles themed area
I really hate sounding so negative. I really do but this is just as bad an idea as replacing the rivers of America. And Incredibles doesn’t fit Adventureland at all.

Muppets is getting enough attention with replacing RnRc.. No offense to the Muppet purists, but they are past their prime as well.

In regards to HoP, yes, it's a bit tired, but if it could be structured a bit more like American Adventure, then it could be relevant again. I do think it's still valuable for kids 8-12 years old that are currently learning (or should I say, SHOULD be learning) in school to be able to connect some dots in their brains on things they've read about.
Muppets may be past their prime, but this is an attraction featuring Warren G Harding. Clearly this space doesn’t have to be the pinnacle of cultural relevance.

I would say it’s objectively a bad idea. Trading four classic attractions for an Incredibles rollercoaster, Up playground, and Aquatopia clone is just insane. At least with the RoA it gets subjective but this is objectively an awful idea and I can’t wrap my head around how TOLC came to this conclusion

Plus the Muppets are only past their prime because Disney refuses to do anything with them, and when they do, they do it in the most inoffensive and boring way possible. They want the Muppets to be a safe baby brand when it’s never been that.

There is a separate thread for Tokyo, go to that thread. This is Hall of Presidents.

I really wasn’t intending to distract. It was more to put a fine point on the “classics aren’t safe” theme. Only one they seem committed to keeping is Haunted Mansion. Thank the gods for that. I’d throw in the towel on that day…

What about pirates of the Caribbean?! Please don’t tell me that’s on the chopping block too.

I’d hope the same goes for IASW? They’ve got a pretty unique version over there & gave it that huge overhaul in 2018. Plus the new Groot overlay… who knows though I wouldn’t put anything past them
I think this art shows nothing there is truly sacred. I see people saying nothing outside of CA should be sacred, which I get, but at the same time… people like the classics for a reason. Not every park needs to be entirely unique. Clones here and there are fine

I think there should be a good mix at each resort. Not all of them need to have every classic attraction, but they all need to have some shared DNA. My biggest problem with Shanghai is that it didn’t keep enough of that DNA. It feels somewhat alien.

Agreed. If they were to build a brand-new castle park today, I would want there to be a mix of classics and originals. Doing new versions of the classics would be cool too. I'll avoid veering any further off-topic, but I imagine you could do modern versions of Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Country Bears*, Big Thunder, Tiki Room, Jungle Cruise, and all the other park-original classics that have the spirit of the original but are modern in their tech. Then those would still count as "new" attractions. A trackless Mansion could be really cool, or a take on Pirates of the Caribbean using the Shanghai ride system, but with the original ride's setting and characters (not the movie). Lots of ways to keep the classics but reinvent them to feel new!

*While CBMJ is new/"modern", I would argue a new build could have a new theater layout that makes it feel unique. One large stage a la HoP/America Signs, or 3 side stages on each side of the main stage to allow for all 18 characters to be in the finale for the first time ever. Could also give it a more modern aesthetic since the new show is less "Vaudeville" and more "Grand Ole Opry".

On that note, to bring it back to the thread topic, could a hypothetical new castle park have a modern/new take on the Hall of Presidents that doesn't feel dated? Or is HoP stuck as an idea of the time it was conceived, with no potential future for it elsewhere?

I don’t think Liberty Square exists in a new castle park. It’s a product of the bicentennial fever of the 70s. Hall of Presidents definitely doesn’t make the cut.
