To be fair, it looks like they've changed now as they know they have a brand new park to go up against. Pandora's land clearing started in 2014 and opened in 2017. So if this opens up in 2027 then that's progress.

"We've been aware of Universal's plans for a new park for more than a decade. And we have a sophisticated approach to analyzing the needs of all of our businesses and strategically deploying capital." - Bob Iger

They've already said the ride takes place during a short vertical slice of the movie, on the day Antonio gets his powers. I assume we'll get to see things not directly shown in the film, but it won't be an invented scenario.

Which I think is good - expand on the story but still include elements that people know and love and be able to use a lot of the songs and music from the movie

Yeah, that was my mistake! I always exit Dinosaur and take the path that ends at C&H and, for some reason, in my head, I associate it as the Dinosaur exit gift shop, even though it is not at all that haha!

It is a large gift shop, and has some of the best merch as well!
If I remember correctly, back before they built out the parking lot amusement park, that is how the forced exit path from Countdown to Extinction took you - right into that shop.

I hope the Encanto ride will be a 'book report' style attraction. Stop changing the story or creating new unnecessary songs. The soundtrack made the movie 10x more popular. Do more Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey and Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast and less Tiana's Bayou Adventure.
The problem isn't that TBA was a new story, it's that it's a completely lame story.

It would be as if they made a ride for Frozen based on Frozen Fever.

They had the elements in the ride system itself and in characters/themes from the original story they could have built on to make a great PATF 1.5 but chose to punt because they wanted to make a feel-good "princess" attraction out of the bones of a thrill ride and part of that required removing any sense of tension or suspense leading up to that final drop since they couldn't actually remove the drop itself.

PATF should have gotten it's own dark ride where a real story could have been explored and if SOTS absolutely had to be scrubbed from existence, they should have come up with something they felt comfortable adapting to the thrill ride this "mountain" was always intended to be.

So maybe to scale back the ambitiousness of the project the ride will not take place in the big Madrigal house, but in Isabel's house with her new husband who did not appear in the film....in another village....and she will own a floral shop and flower growing farm...Luisa will replace the tractor on the farm, and a cousin that was not in the film who has the special power of manifesting cardboard will run the packing and shipping department... And we will travel through the jungle to look for bugs to make tortillas for the nightly Fiesta.......

I like and hate the fact that you're not too far off from a cut concept from the actual film itself lol

The real countdown to extinction has begun and now the dinosaurs are truly about to go extinct but this time its at animal kingdom. I just hope when this project is done we get a fine wine and not moldy vinegar.

This is like going back in time when Pandora was still dirt and the land opened in 2017. Now Tropical America is opening 2027. Galaxy's Edge opened in 2019 so I'm thinking Villains Land is opening in 2029 since that is MK's Galaxy's Edge.
