MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Hearing arguments about how poor of a decision it was to build the RoA and TSI is a slap in the face to Walt, Roy, and WED. WDW has been coasting on the foundation WED built for the last 20+ years. The more this new crop of “Imagineers” rip out what WED built, the weaker the foundation of WDW is.

Idk if it’s just me, but I’m a bit worried about the precedent that these closures set. Like if all that is ok to be closed, where does it stop?

They took out Great Movie Ride and have let Imagination flounder.
Next up? Likely Autopia, maybe Jungle Cruise.

Yeah. Agreed. It’s unfortunate. So I feel a bit on edge for some things. So anything can be taken out really.

From my point of view, it looks like the only problem here is Disney doesn't want to spend the money needed to build elsewhere. I don't like it but I understand that is what companies do there days, but that isn't an indictment on entertainment decisions made over 50 years ago in a different environment.
It just seems absurd to assume people in the 1960s would anticipate the shifts in business practices and market demands that would eventually lead to the decisions being made today.

This is what us Epcot fanboys have been whining about since the fountain demolition. Actually before that, with Frozen insertion into Epcot.
It doesn’t stop. ROA and muppets aren’t the end but they’re not the beginning either. They get bolder in terms of what they’re willing to remove in the name of modernizing the parks and injecting IP.

I think we need to stray away from this line of thinking tbh. I think every era of Imagineering has made some pretty poor decisions, though I would disagree that the RoA is one of them.

This is what I’m hoping for. There’s something exciting about the evolution of the park even if the quality is a wash or turns out a little bit worse.

Well, it's a them park, not a religious site so why would anything be sacred
I mean, it's a great theme park, one of the best in the world, but nothing should be off the table to be replaced if it is determined to be a positive move
I am not convinced the specifics of this change are a net positive but I think just about anything at WDW, especially MK which is a copy of the original, can be replaced

I don’t want 90s-era Epcot crap, but I’m excited to see something new even if I don’t like it as much as RoA. But yeah, there’s limits to even that.

I was catching up on this thread this morning, and whoever said (paraphrasing) the lack of areas like what’s being lost at MK coupled with the overuse of headliner attractions is exactly what makes DHS problematic was bang on.
MK has attractions and areas that most days of the year don’t require planning or waiting to enjoy, Epcot & AK both have large areas of the park that are not attraction focused that can be enjoyed without planning and/or waiting, DHS is really lacking in both parts of the park that encourage walking and taking in the environment and attractions that don’t require planning/waiting. I am concerned what the end result is going to be of them (albeit slowly) converting ‘under utilized’ areas of the parks into E tickets.
I actually am fine with Cars coming to MK itself, with the caveat that I’ve reluctantly accepted that the days of building IP-less attractions are probably over and the idea of perfect fit has gone out the window, but I wouldn’t be happy with any addition to MK for this price.

I agree with this entire post except I am NOT fine with Cars coming to MK.
A do understand there is nothing that can be done to stop it, just like there was nothing could have been done to stop the destruction of Future World in EPCOT.
