I don’t even know how to respond to this. Where did this modeling phase occur between SD, DD and CD? And are you telling me you somehow opted out of modeling in Revit for certain phases?

Just a few SketchUp models that I myself massed out in design, before they were turned over to a tech for final rendering…….

They were paying us to do these, so were sure as heck getting paid by the clients for us to do them.
You can call modeling a sub phase if you wish, but I considered it a full phase, because fees were substantially higher regarding such.
And, based on that alone, I’m pretty sure our clients would have all agreed.
AIA be damned.

For some people it could be the greatest ride in the history of the world and still will "suck" b/c they took the river out

but I think for a lot of people they "get it" with taking out the rivers but it better be worth it - and will be a high bar and a very small margin of error

How could you “get” taking away ROA?

There is PLENTY of space to build this without destroying a key element of the park.

Yes, Revit will, essentially, already include modeling, and that was factored into the price of a project done using Revit. The client could not opt out and was made aware of that fact, and that it would include increased fees. We also used AutoCAD.
And, in the article link you provided, modeling is clearly mentioned as a possible “deliverable” in the schematic design phase, and clients were aware the fee would be higher, if they so opted.

I’m telling you what our firms (which I was employed with for 31+ years) policy and process was regarding such.
I can explain it to you, but I can’t understand it for you.

If you acknowledge that modeling is a possible deliverable of schematic design then it’s part of schematic design, not a separate phase as you claimed.

The river isn’t really an attraction per se.

It’s a huge part of the place making of that area of the park. It’s dynamic and serene at once, and losing it isn’t about losing a ride. It’s about losing the soul of the Magic Kingdom.

Where does this full phase slot into the others? It has to go somewhere?

Also, Disney requires Revit starting in concept design. The modeling is occurring across the entire design process, not as an aside. It can’t be its own phase of its in all of the phases.

It would be very easy to find an alternate route to villains land as has been illustrated numerous times in this thread. Corporate just doesn’t want to pay for it.

Except it won't ruin the parks. At least not for the vast majority of people.

I expect Disney parks to be more than just "line, ride, line, ride, line, ride..." They are removing one of the best features of MK that allows one to step outside this, one that doesn't even require to be physically stepped on in order to enjoy. Anyways, we have gone over this a bunch. They are moving forward. From my end, I don't expect to go back after my trip next week unless there is a major shift in leadership. I would have already cancelled for something else if I didn't already tell the kids we would be going one last time...

It will be funny when the open up that off-road version of Radiator Springs Racers... it was one of the most trouble prone rides I've ever had the experience of seeing. And give the poor state of WDW imagineering I can only imagine that their version will be even more trouble prone... maybe it will be running 3 days a week... but I doubt it will even make an entire day without breaking down.

It’s been established on these boards that Disney has wanted the river gone for quite some time. It has nothing to do with imagination or will.
